http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2040856-bucher-buzz-could-bryon-scott-help-recruit-kyrie-irving-to-the-lakershttp://www.lakersnation.com/lakers-rumors-hiring-byron-scott-could-appeal-to-kyrie-irving/2014/04/27/http://msn.foxsports.com/ohio/story/could-scott-lure-kyrie-to-lakers-042714“At least one LA source believes that’s the direction (the Lakers) could go, primarily because of Scott’s relationship with Kyrie Irving,” Bucher said in the video.
According to Bucher, Scott and Irving “still text on a regular basis, and the relationship is very good.”
Irving has said he would like to stay in Cleveland, “but the fact of the matter is with Scott in LA with the Lakers, that could be very appealing, and that would bring in a great building block for the Lakers moving forward,” Bucher said of Irving.
Couple of conflicting things here..
1) Heisler seemed content the Lakers are bringing back Dantoni (he's still credible to me even if he's lost some luster over the years
2) Would Kyrie really leave that guaranteed money on the table because he wants out of Cleveland that bad?
3) Would the Cavs even be interested in a deal centered around our lottery pick? (if its not getting us Wiggins or Parker I'd personally move it for Irving a proven commodity still with upside)
4) Is our Front Office even seriously considering Byron Scott as a coach if Mike D doesnt come off of his demand for another year?
Still gonna be an interesting offseason to say the least

BS(and I don't mean Byron Scott)
Can Kevin Ollie lure Durant if we want to go that way....?
No for Scott/Rambis/Hollins/Karl or other guys like that....I'd rather go for a unexperienced coach at this point and gamble than take the sure and **** option....because we know what we are getting with the guys above and it ain't good
Fisher/Kerr ...no coaching experience,YES,I'd take those guys before any of those 4 above
College coaches like Hoiberg/Ollie/Smart the same

I've been saying hire Derek as a coach for months! Really is the only logical candidate.

I just hope they don't recycle one of the same old retreads if and when they get rid of D'Antoni.

Irving can't be an unrestricted free agent for two yrs, and even then it would require him to be the 1st player ever to pass up a max contract coming off a rookie contract where he would give up millions of dollars...so there's really no such thing as luring Irving to the Lakers. It all has to go through the Cavs front office and luring them into making a trade.

that's right. it would have to be a situation where Kyrie tells the FO that he is not signing the extension, and CLE doesn't want to deal with the fallout. from LAL POV Kyrie is a great option for the draft pick, but CLE may not want to start over and therefore, in such a situation, would call Kyrie's bluff.

Who ever wrote that should fired right away. It just doesn't make a single lick of sense.

Kyrie is a terrible contract waiting to happen, IMO.
He has amazing value for now but watching the Cav's chemistry sky rocket when he was off the floor towards the end of the season kind of speaks volumes about Kyrie's play style and what he brings to the table as a player.
He's a scoring PG (an undersized SG) who doesn't defend well, doesn't have stellar court vision and doesn't have fine grasp on running an offense.
Sure, he can dribble and score with an array of moves but so can Nick Young, at a fraction of the price.
At least a guy like John Wall had an innate ability to spread the ball and find teammates, not to mention his defensive potential, which has really blossomed into near elite status.
I would rather grab Exum in this years draft. Pass on Irving. Zero in on bigger fish.

Why in the world would you guys want Byron Scott as your coach to replace D' Antoni? I know you can' stand MDA but I think Byron would be horrible hire.
Kevin Ollie is the guy I would go after, or someone like him. I would not even consider Rambis, Hollins or Karl.

Lets get Kyrie, Love, and Melo and it would be the perfect team that no one can play a lick of defense.

How many games do you think the Suns would have won this year if Mike D was coach and Thibs assistant was there to help him?
You can't get delusional just yet about future assistants. It's hard to leave the inside circle of the league and then go straight to coaching. Mark Jackson is on the hot seat for mistakes according to Lowe, McHale isn't running plays during crunch time, etc.
The ironic thing is, what Hornacek is doing this year is the exact same thing as what McHale was doing last year with the Rockets. If Kerr decides that run and gun is a style that fits the Knicks next year, I think it can be concluded there's an ongoing pattern with coaching hires coming from outside of the league.

I've been saying for months that with Byron Scott working for Time Warner Sports doing the pre-game shows with James Worthy and his top assistant when he coached New Orleans that he is most likely the front runner to replace Mike D'Antoni. But as far as luring players Scott is definitely more respected by players around the league than D'Antoni and has coached in 2 NBA Finals. Not to mention he also won rings as a player & was Kobe's mentor in Kobe's first year in the league.

I don't think Kyrie is ready to leave yet.

Bucher? The same guy that swore Kobe still wanted out as Bynum was morphing into a 20-10 guy and Pau was packing his bags for Southern California? No thanks. I distinctly remember Kyrie having reported issues with Byron Scott, so there's no way that's an incentive. Dude works for the Warriors now and lost his credibility seven years ago. It's no accident that he's not with ESPN anymore. Please.
P.S. - Kyrie denied these reported issues with Scott in the same manner in which he denied issues with Dion Waiters earlier this season. I know a pattern of rhetoric when I see it.

I think a deal for Kyrie makes us a favorite to land Love in FA or have him force his way here via trade.. I wouldn't do it without getting a 2015 1st..Stealing Thibs from Chi is the most important move we can pull off this summer realistically, & we need a 1st to trade for that to be possible.

Not sure how credible this is but I saw this on a knicks board.
GettinitDone wrote:The Cleveland Cavaliers reportedly are not going to pay Kyrie Irving the maximum amount of money this summer via a long-term extension, according to Mitch Lawrence of the New York Daily News.
The reasoning, according to Lawrence, is that Irving hasn’t been a strong leader in his first three seasons, and has developed an unwelcome reputation for being a problem in the locker room. As a result, the Cavs don’t see Irving as worth the max amount of money.
Although the team doesn’t want to deal Irving, Lawrence suggested that it could come to that if Irving and his people continue to state that he wants out.

I still think trading for Kyrie is the absolute best move we can make this summer if it's possible. His extension doesn't have to kick in until 15-16.. or 16-17 if we get him to play out his QO.. We get a 22 year old allstar that will only make 7.4M this season & has a ton of room to grow.
Would put us in a great position to be more appealing to the top free agents in 2015, a class that is loaded with bigs. I think Kobe can help Kyrie become great. We'll probably have to eat some bad contracts with Nash & our capspace to make it semi-appealing to Cleveland.. Maybe send Jordan Hill in a S&T on a reasonable contract to give them a cheap replacement for AV with more upside.. Probably taking on Jack & AV. We'd use about 13M of our potential cap space.
I think at that point we make big 1 year offers to Pau or Young or a veteran FA & bring back most of our role players from last season for the minimum. How good we'll be will ultimately depend on Kobe coming back near the level he was at 12/13.. If that's the case, we should be a playoff team that everyone wants to avoid, especially if we keep Pau around for 1 year. Having Kobe back playing like a top 10 player while Kyrie takes a step foward with Pau, AV, our supporting cast from last season.. We should have a good enough run to be very appealing for the bigs in FA.. Love, Aldridge, M. Gasol, Hibbert could opt out for a longer max deal.. some guys that will hopefully command below the max in Asik, Jordan, Vucevic, Leonard, Chandler.. I think adding any of those guys to Kobe/Irving/great supporting cast could have us back to being a legit contender.
