Young Sticking Around?

Bobcats/Hornets fan here...we're in the market for wings that can score (although primarily looking for a starter), and was curious what LAL fans' thoughts are on Young's free agency. So four questions:
(1) Do you expect him to stay in LA?
(2) Do you want him to stay in LA?
(3) What do you think his contract would look like if he stayed?
(4) What contract do you think he's earned / would you feel comfortable signing him to?

Im sure he'd like to stay but Money trumps all, offer him 3 yrs 18mill and he's all yours and I think that is his fair market value, we're not in the right place yet to give him that type of contract.

For the right price, we'd love to keep him... The right price however, is much lower than he'll receive elsewhere.

Most of us agree that Swaggy P should only be kept for the right price. If he does not come back, sure we would miss his personality and swagga, but at the same time his role can be replaced for a cheaper price.

So what are we talking here? If he could be had for 3 years $12M, would that be too much?

I don't think the Lakers offer him more than 2 yrs and even that with a team option. If you are willing to commit to him for 3 seasons he'd be dumb to turn it down.

He's not a good fit for a team always trying to build around championships. the lakers are one of those teams.

4 mil per yr is the absolute max imo, you guys offer him more than that he is all yours.

Young is an excellent "core bench" player imo. He, Farmar, and Hill should all be retained if we want to build up our bench.

If you're looking for a player who will consistently chuck up dumb shots, has an idiotic self appointed nickname only junior high school kids seem to appreciate and who's motivation to win is only sparked when he's playing against lottery teams with a worse record then the lottery team he's currently playing for.
The yeah I'd say you've found your guy.

I don't get it...Who are you guys going to be happy with then? IMO Nick Young is definitely a keeper. I mean yeah that Utah game was a big disappointment but before that his second and third highest scoring games were against legit playoff teams.
41pts vs Utah, 40pts vs Portland, 32pts vs Houston, 31pts vs Chicago @ Chicago, 29pts vs Toronto @ Toronto.
The dude can ball...

A lot of the guys on here wouldn't be happy no matter who the lakers got. B4 the Lakers got Howard everyone was (and still is?) complaining about Defense, then the lakers got howard and yet most of these guys were complaining about his Offense LOL.
I don't think the guys on here would be happy until we got the Western all star line up haha and even then I they'd all find someone to whine about lol
Keep Young at a good Price, Farmer and Hill these guys are awesome bench players.

ill be one of the first to admit im guilty of expecting too much out of players. Shaq and Kobe have spoiled me and I bet there are posters on here who were spoiled by magic, kareem, and worthy. We expect the cream of the crop in LA lol.

haha That's fair enough, you just can't expect to see every player on your team to be absolutely perfect and make all the correct plays at the right time - that's all I'm really trying to say.

This right here. Nothing wrong with wanting the best as long as were not completely delusional.

You know, Shaq, Kobe, Magic, Kareem, Worthy, all need role players.
most of our current players could be legit key backup for contenders

The fact is Nick Young out played his $1.2 million contract and made $6 million last year. Though he would love to stay in LA because he his from there he knows he is due for a better contract. Lakers front office won't offer him what he can get from another team. So unless he willing to take a home town discount of 2 to 3 million so the front office can still build a contender and have him be that 6th man for that contender he is basically out the door and gone already. He averaged 17ppg this year and if the Lakers would have had 45 plus wins this year he would have been in the discussion for 6th man of the year.
