What If? Nash

I've heard from everyone on this planet, including 99% of Lakers fans, that Mr. Steve Nash is DONE.

What if he comes back healthy, and can play substantial minutes, being everything we thought he could be when we signed him.

Dare I say, a final stand?

15 PPG, 8/9 APG and a few steals with his great vision?

This could buy us some time to find the answer for the future at PG.

I don't see this being that hard to come by.

I really think Nash can do it. He has the work ethic and he wants to prove the critics wrong. I'm sure Kobe wants him back and playing great too. Is this that far out of the realm of happening? I'd sure love to see it.

My idea is to trade him to TOR for Salmons. If he is truly able to play and TOR agrees, LAL can waive Salmons for $1M and have more room to sign FA or facilitate trades. TOR has national hero coming home for a good-bye season. Need to move rather quickly, however, as I believe Salmons has to be waived by June 30.

He may be able to come back and do it offensively, but that dude is going to be a complete waste of space on the court defensively.

by what would jack bauer do?
I could see him being a key contributor in a 1 or 2 game instance hopefully in the playoffs. He could play a Sam Cassell or PJ brown type of role for us and be a spark when we need help with our bench, but I'm pretty sure after that one or two games his body will need like 2 months of rest to "recover".

Nash is a backup PG at this point in his career. Starting him next season would be an awful move IMO

i'm guessing if we are lucky we get to the playoffs and he pulls a Bill Walton(Celtics) type of run in some crucial games after being mostly crap all year.

Guess the OP didn't see that Nash is still limited in what he can do basketball wise as far as activity. Don't matter anyway he's as burnt as toast......DONE.

Dude was getting hurt every game when he came back after a long period of time. Every injury report was "pinched nerve." Wasn't even aware that was an injury before. At this point, Nash is a 3rd string PG who will serve as a mentor to the young guns.

I'd love for Nash to be healthy and contribute heavily to a run or at least fill in at Point for us until we can find a good replacement...

But in all honesty, I think best case for us is if Nash himself realizes he's done sometime before the trade deadline and takes himself off the books...

Nash has as much chance of being healthy all of next season as us getting into the Finals
