Post#1 » by eckoner » Wed May 28, 2014 10:20 pm

I'm curious to see who this all impacts the Lakers coaching search and draft...free agents?????

He says he will fight to the bitter end now! Geeze i wish he goes away but the Lakers could benefit from the fight!

what say you?

wouldn't really affect FAs. The NBA takes ownership of the team when they oust him whether he takes them to court or not. The NBA could easily sell the team to another owner while the litigation is ongoing.

He's going to fight, but I think once the NBA votes to oust Donald, then it'll move the fight to the courts, the NBA will either sell the team from there or run it until the legal battles are over with and the Clippers will continue on as normal (barring some sort of strange legal decision).

Although we'll see, but I really doubt it.

Unfortunately, any scenario that ends with Sterling being ousted from the Clippers is likely a bad scenario for the Lakers...

Because almost anybody would result in a better team than the Stirling Clippers, and a better Clippers team is bad for the Lakers.

In the short term, I think a lot of the threats from the likes of CP3 and Doc are hollow and directed at the league... Neither one of those self righteous loudmouths are going to leave money on the table to make a grandiose statement about bigotry in America.

Thats exactly what i was eluding to!

I think the threats might be real!

If he's gonna fight the league is gonna cut his legs from under him. :-) but it will not happen overnight!
Discussions of voiding contracts should heat up this summer!

juss sayin!

He's going to fight the team in court while still being banned from the NBA and no longer being the owner. Huge difference.

Has absolutely nothing to do with the Lakers nor will it affect them in no way. CP3 nor Rivers will be leaving the Clippers. The NBA will not be voiding any contracts, the only way that happens is if the players or coaches violated any terms of those deals. Contracts can't be voided just to be voiding them.

I just want the Clippers to leave the Staples Center. Is that too much to ask for?

I assume he thought he was going to be able to convince them to let him move the team to seattle... Now they're saying it has to stay in LA...
I wonder if he drops his bid?

This may be a stupid question but as an owner don't you have the right to ask permission from the NBA to move the team? I don't see why he shouldn't be allowed to move the team if he owns the team. Especially if they get an arena done in Seattle.

No it's not a stupid question... But I think a better one would be why would the league be so adamant about the Clippers staying in LA considering that there's already another team there?

I know big market and all that, but I just think something's missing in that story.

Ballmer has said he isn't moving the team due to his ability to make more money in LA. Not that the guy needs more money, he's worth $20billion............

one reason would be that they signed a lease with staples center last yr that still has 9 yrs left on it. cant' just default on that. anyway, im sure ballmer knows this and sees most of the value of his bid in LA's market and the clips upcoming TV deal.

ballmer with his type of money and in a major market like LA is pretty scary. the only thing that kept holding back the clips was their owner's stupidity and cheapness. if ballmer hires the right people there's nothing stopping the clips from enjoying all the advantages the lakers traditionally had.
