Don't let the success of the Clippers fool you ... Andrew Bynum knows Los Angeles is still a Lakers town ... that's why he wants to play for them next season.
Bynum -- who is currently a free agent after a disastrous season in Cleveland and Indiana -- was at LAX on Tuesday when our photog broached the idea of returning to Los Angeles.
You might think Bynum would want to take what's left of his talents to Lob City ... but he says he'd prefer to wear purple and gold.
Bynum's best seasons were in Los Angeles ... in fact, he's barely played in the two seasons since he was traded for Dwight Howard.
Hey, the Lake Show needs all the help they can get.
Man the guy didnt seem motivated to play these last couple of seasons and it seems whatever locker room he went to it became drama. Heard on ESPN radio Mike and Mike show that some people around the Pacers locker room felt Bynum had a serious negative impact on Hibbert and his attitude. Never knew if that was a valid rumor or not. He wont cost much to bring back it would be something to consider at least for the vet minimum right? Kobe and Pau(probably) will still be in that locker room.
THoughts?

I think him and Smush should go play ball together in Bosnia or somewhere...
That said, if he could find a way to screw his head on straight and screw his knees back together, sure, why the hell not? Throw him a vet min and see what happens.

I know his knees arent in the best shape but I believe his biggest issue is his competitive motor and will to want to get back on the court. Just felt these past couple of years after being traded he just wanted to collect checks and didnt take his rehab seriously. Bynum for the vet minimum and if we could get 25mpg at of him is an interesting thought at the least. But we cant ignore how he's been labelled a cancer on teams now smh!!

He actually looked pretty good in Cleveland for awhile. He really struggles mentally without Kobe or a strong persona. I say why the hell not as well. If he can average 15 and 10 like he did in Cleveland for a stretch playing snail slow basketball then screw it why not.

Yeah... Bynum want's to get paid, not play basketball... As the option to get paid playing basketball begins to fade, perhaps a fire will ignite in him and get his head out of his 5' tall ass and he can have a positive impact on a team again... I think he has more in the tank than Oden...

I'm sure he said Lakers instead of Clippers because he's aware we have cap space & they don't. But if he was willing to come for the minimum after we spend on other players, why not?

Only now getting "paid" for him should mean making under $1 million. I mean, what reasonable GM would offer him anything guaranteed or for multiple years without having the ability to cut him at any given moment.

We could always offer a vet minimum and 2nd year team option and probably may get away with not guaranteeing a portion of the money. The market for Bynum wont be high and most teams wont be silly enough to offer a large deal. We'd probably be only bidding against a team like the Clippers. But at this point I'd doubt Doc Rivers would want Bynum in that locker room.

He couldn't managed garbage time backup minutes with Indy, why anyone thinks he can get 15/10 on a consistent basis is beyond me. He is nothing more than bench warming cheer leader at this point and based on "rumors" he's even bad at that. Teams dont excuse you from the bench for just "cause" like Indy did regardless of being injured or not, you have to be a real distraction to have that happen to you. He's DONE, even for vet min. its a waste money, just like it was a waste of money for Indy who fans there thought the same, that maybe in a better organization with better players and less expecations he would try harder. There's nothing to "try harder" with either, his knees are shot. Only way I give this bum any chance is if he agrees to play in the summer leagues and join the pre-season squad and we'll see if he can maintain his health, otherwise F that.

Good points bro... But lets not forget the Lakers F.O. is really pushing the message of "Cap Management" these next 2 seasons. And currently we only have 3 players (4 if we choose to keep Kelly) on the roster. We're in a position where we can be cost effective and gamble a bit here while still being able to preserve cap space. In my opinion, we gotta roll the dice on this one if Bynum is willing to sign for the vet minimum. But I understand your point of view on this

Have the standards fallen so bad that the press are calling a Slippers 2nd round exit a successful season? The last time we went out in the second round, Ice Cube called Pau a vagina and the TMZ made up a rumor about his fiance cheating on him.

pre-season squad with no gurantee's, let see what he has left. I know vet min. aint crap but when its used on someone who can't player and who's also has possibility of disrupting the locker room, is it really worth it?

You're off by a season Slava, the last time we went out in the second round Magic Johnson went on a rant about changes that needed to be made than we acquired Steve Nash and Dwight Howard.

No thanks. We offloaded this douche at just the perfect time. I don't think it was lack of motivation that turned him from an All-NBA player in 2011 to suddenly being garbage. I believe it's just who he is. He's never struck me as somebody who cares about winning. He cares about the money & fame associated with playing in the NBA.

But the season he did care he was an All-Star and put up very impressive numbers. It just sux because the NBA really needs more back to the basket bigs and this era lost that smh!!!

next year is going to suck anyways and be mostly boring. Why not bring some entertainment to the team and added drama so we have something to look forward to next season. Actually bringing Bynum as an Assistant Coach would be even better.

How many teams will actually give him a shot? I really think he could be had for a 10-day contract midway through the season. Didn't reports from both Cleveland and Indiana say he had "chemistry" and attitude problems in the locker room? I doubt there are many teams that would be willing to give him a chance knowing he could easily be cancerous in the locker room and has almost nothing left in his knees.
