how should we use our Cap Space?

a lot of people seem to be into the idea of Boozer + 1st rounds pick for pure cap space.
Anyone else out there that we could do something similar?
For example Lee + Barnes + future 1st round pick for Nash? (to lessen the blow on 2 years of Lee?) maybe take out the pick?

Asik + Lin + 25th pick + future 1st's.. Use the 25th to get someone to take on Nash's contract, sign Deng for 8M. We should be able to get all those picks because Houston will have alot of pressure on them to unload them quickly because as soon as Parsons signs an offer sheet, his first year amount on the offer becomes his new cap hold, & they would have to either renounce Parsons or forget signing Melo. Morey can't afford to play hardball.
Lin
Kobe
Deng
Hill
Asik

Stretch Nash
Rescind all QOs
Go for Melo and Bron.
Draft Smart or Randle or Exum
Give Hill the room exception
Smart Kobe Bron Melo Hill
Bron Kobe Melo Randle Hill
Exum Kobe Melo Bron Hill
Telling Bron he can start at pg like Magic could be a sell technique as could marketing the idea of that big 3 and what they can make from one another. Brons show deal still goes up in ny and la anyhow

i personally think a few of your suggestions are unrealistic.
1. i don't think you can get the 25th pick AND "future 1sts" for taking on asik and lin. i'm sure the rockets will find takers for asik's 8 mil cap hit, he's worth that. he costs more than that in real cash, but for a lot of teams what matters is the cap hit. i also think they can find a taker for lin who is a good role player, at most they'd have to give up that 25th pick to move him
2. i don't think you can find anyone who would take on nash for that 25th pick.
3. i'd be surprised if deng signed for 8 mil, he's gonna command several mil more than that.

I would be in on the Lin + Asik deal even without a pick if we can just absorb them. It gives us two solid pieces, that fit need, that expire next year. Only reason I don't like it is it gives Houston opportunity to get someone else but meh, I doubt they do anyway. It just fits our plan perfectly if it could happen. I think Lin is a bit underrated, he doesn't have to be a primary full time PG with Kobe and he's a good defender. I think coming back to Cali could really boost his moral and energy. Asik for 8 mil cap hit is the perfect center, good defender and rebounder, guards the pick and roll well, doesn't need the ball a ton in the post which allows us to use Kobe there more often. It keeps us from wasting our cap on players that aren't worth it on long deals. From there, try and keep Hill, fill in with the #7 and our youthful perimeter from last year. We could stretch Nash and try and get one more middle piece, but I'm not sure what would be there yet that would be available for one year deals. Ideally though maybe at that point if we could somehow get their 25 too or come up with another pick maybe that's enough to get Love now, #7 #25 S&T Hill??
Lin/Nash/Marshal
Kobe/Young
Baze/X/Wes
(Love or #7 and Hill) Kelley
Asik/Sacre
Even without love, it's not a bad lineup, they will play tough, rebound, defend. Stick Gordon or Randle in there with Hill and Asik and our front line is going to bang, rebound, and come at you. With Love it's competitive imo, great spacing and balance. We satisfy Kobe and give it a great shot this year while still giving us complete flexibility next year.

Stretch Nash (only pay him $3 million this year instead of $9).
Draft Smart.
Sign Carmelo.
Re-Sign Gasol.
Find a way to bring Hill back.
G - Smart/Marshall
G - Bryant/Baze
F - MMLE (or re-sign Wes)
F - Carmelo/Kelly
C - Gasol/Hill

If we stretch Nash wouldn't that mean we'd still owe him the rest of the money after the upcoming season.

1st option: Draft Smart if available at #7 but I understand he could be gone before that.
2nd option: Draft Vonleh
3rd option: Trade down and acquire Phoenix's #14 & #18 picks.
Re-sign Swaggy P (3 yr, $11 mil), Hill (3 yr, $12.5 mil), Bazemore (QO), Kelly (QO), Farmar (2 yr, $3 mil), Kaman (1 yr, $2 mil) and Henry (1 yr, $1 mil)
Sign Lance Stephenson (5 yr, $30-40 mil) and move Kobe to SF or sign Luol Deng (3 yr, $18-21 mil)
Sign Emeka Okafor for vet minimum
PG - Smart / Farmar / Marshall / Nash
SG - Kobe (or Lance) / Bazemore / Henry
SF - Deng (or Kobe) / Swaggy P
PF - Hill / Kelly
C - Okafor / Kaman / Sacre

Draft Exum or Smart... Sign Livingston, Blatche, Birdman & Ariza... Resign Hill, Young & Meeks... If available, grab Boozer off the amensty or Asik if the price is reasonable... We don't need offense... We need defense & that's what Livingston, Smart, Ariza, Birdman & Asik bring... Get a superstar next year...
PG: Exum/Smart & Livingston
SG: Kobe & Meeks
SF: Ariza & Young
PF: Blatche & Kelly (Boozer)
C: Hill & Birdman (Asik)
Be opportunistic moving forward & wish for good health... Smart, Kobe, Livinston & Ariza will play good defense & Hill & Birdman will protect the rim... Lakeshow Baby...

How in the hell do you expect to spend money on Meeks, Livingston, Ariza, and Hill (with Birdman and Blatche) and sign a star the next year? We have roughly $12M total to sign all of those guys if we wish to preserve the max....

Stop putting facts into this. You're ruining everyones pipe dream.

Hey if we want zero facts then we've gotta pipe higher than Birdman and Blatche.
I'd rather absorb Sanders + 2 for the 7

Draft Julius Randle

Renounce Bazemore
Sign Jordan Farmar, Al-Farouq Aminu, Wesley Johnson, and Ben Gordon to 1 year deals.

This is actually a far more realistic scenario to happen than all of the others in this thread.
And that would be a solid team, probably a playoff contender.
The only other domino is what will they do with Pau. Wold he accept a one or two year deal to stay.

Monroe is getting matched by Pistons for that price and I think they will match even if we overpay...they can just sign him up and trade him rather than lose him for nothing.

I'm not sure about how the whole capspace thing works, but I believe we should go hard for Deng. He might be willing to give us a hometown discount so that's there.

i say similar to what the FO did last offseason since we're pretty much in the same position.
don't commit to any long term contract unless it's a sure fire improvement.
we should try to find cheap 3-4 solid role players that we can keep through 2015/2016, where i expect we should be able to really compete at a high level
