A shooting guard dynasty approaching

First off, let me just say I hate the term 2 guard. I like to characterize guys by their role, i.e. wing, point, post and so on.

With that in mind, this is something that's been much discussed, and recently too on the B.S. report. The argument in place is that the 2 guard spot is rally shallow. I'd like to disagree, because while the shooting guard spot isn't top heavy like the small forward spot, it has a fairly large upper-middle class.

List: 1. Harden, 2nd tier in any order: Bradley Beal, Demar Derozan, Afflalo, Klay Thompson, Gordon Hayward, Lance Stephenson, Oladipo, iso Joe and so on. 3 and D guys in their prime like Wes Mathews and Danny Green can single handedly swing games, while undersized 2's like Monta Ellis and Rodney Stuckey are flourishing. Jamal Crawford and Manu Ginobili are electric 6th men. Tim Hardaway Jr. and Dion Waiters are both great young talents, and there are more in the up coming draft with Nik Stauskas, Gary Harris and Jordan Adams.

No doubt. People don't seem to realize that there are quite a good amount of wing men in the league. People fawn about how this is the golden era for point guards, but we're coming into a good time for the "shooting guard" position.

It's still not nearly as deep as the PG position, as there are about 10-15 PGs who can take over games at any time and dominate each other. The PF position is also deep, with the Center position quietly starting to pick up steam.

The SG position is the most shallow position in the league IMO, but if you can get one of those elite players (Harden, Wade, Kobe etc.) it really helps because these players can all make plays and score for themselves.

The league is shifting into a wing driven league period. From Pg's, Sg's, & Sf's they are all running the league from the wing

Don't count your chickens before they're hatched.

Plus those shooting guards that you mentioned are not even close to the late 90's/early 00's wingmen, A.I, Kobe, Allen, VC, Miller, Tmac, Finley, Stack, Davis, Pierce..

those guys would eat james harden for late nite meal 24/7

but i wouldn't say that the league is now run by the guards and swingmans.. i think the league just lack the dominating post presence to conquer the league.. but what the hell..

Don't forget the others w/ a similar role that made all-star teams like Manu, Rip, Hughes, Finals MVP Chauncey, Butler and Gil (Gil is as much a PG as AI)

That's who I would compare the current crop too. Good not great but mainly tweeners or with some fairly big gaps in their games.

The early '00s was an ugly time, but the swingman game was Beeeeyeutiful. Kobe, T-Mac, VC, Finley, Pierce were all big guards with no huge weaknesses.
