6-5 PG with long arms, possible PG perimeter defender that the Lakers need? Don't know to much about him.

This guy has a Matt Barnes type of shot, but without that weird hitch that Matt Barnes has.

NBADraft.net had him in the mid 20's in today's mock draft.

Potential steal. Like Tiesto said, Clarkson was projected being drafted mid/late 1st round.

Re: Jordan Clarkson
Great size and athleticism for a guard, near the top in most of the combine drills, almost a 40" vert, plays a bit like Payton.

Re: Jordan Clarkson
It looks like his only weakness is he's got NO left hand.
We shall see. Intriguing prospect, and possibly another steal from Mitch and Co.
Starting to like it:
PG: / Marshall / Nash / (Clarkson)
SG: Kobe
SF:
PF: Randle / Kelley
Cc: / Sacre
35 million (not including Randle and Clarkson (UNG) Total.
It's gonna be a fun offseason.

Re: Jordan Clarkson
Note: I did not watch any Mizzou games this year so I'm basing this limited scouting report on Youtube videos.
Scouting Report: Jordan Clarkson
Position: PG/SG
Age: 22
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 186
Wingspan: 6' 8"
Standing Reach: 8' 2"
Body Fat: 4.3%
No Step Vert: 33.0
Max Vert: 38.5
Stats at a glance:
17.5 PPG
3.8 RPG
3.4 APG
1.1 SPG
44.7% FG
28.1% 3PTFG
83.1% FT
Videos:

Strengths:
-Good size for a PG at 6'5, allows him to see over smaller defenders.
-Crafty passer in traffic
-Excellent finisher at the rim
-Solid in Pick n Roll action
-Crossover dribble to shake defenders (a bit slow to execute though)
-Excellent in the fastbreak
Weaknesses:
-Inconsistent shooter from the perimeter. He'll need to improve on that to stick in this league. The good news is that apparently he's changed his release and did well in workouts before the draft. We'll see if it translates.
-Poor A/TO ratio for a PG
-Shot selection can be an issue
-Iffy defense with sub-average wingspan
Conclusion and Projections:
Seems like he'll project to be a combo guard at the next level. Consistent shooting from the outside is probably priority #1 in terms of sticking in the league. I'm intrigued by his slashing ability at his position. Defense seems to be a question mark but I think he has the size needed to at least body up on that end of the floor. His handles are kind of loose, NBA-level defenders can pick his pocket easily if he's not careful. All in all, not a bad pickup in the mid-2nd round. Let's hope he doesn't completely forget how to finish at the rim like Morris did when he got to the NBA.
Best case: Tony Wroten with better PG skills, less "chucker" mentality
Average case: Shaun Livingston (current)
Worst case: Darius Morris/Mardy Collins

Re: Jordan Clarkson
This pick is a little suspect to me, but it seems like they wanted a defensive PG with decent court vision. His handle is pretty weak and his shot is non-existent. Out of the players behind him, I would have rather had Marble who to me is more well-rounded, but all we lost was money, so not too much risk.

Re: Jordan Clarkson
I think he's a SG. A 6-8 wingspan is fine. SGs are smaller than they used to be anyway. As a SG a number of those problems get minimized.
Someone mentioned Livingston. You nailed it. L.A. wants to go with a lineup similar to D. Williams- Livingston-Joe Johnson. That lineup gave a number of teams trouble this year because there constantly was a guy that could create for others with the ball in his hands. It's very hard as a defense to scheme against that.
We saw that with OKC a few years ago as well.

disagree with you this time on the best case moonpie. his post plays reminds me more of Livingston. and having watched Larry Hughes, I think he can be on that level but way better offensively.

Re: Jordan Clarkson
Ooh Hughes is an interesting comparison in terms of play style, but I don't see Clarkson ever becoming the offensive threat that Larry was. In his prime, Hughes was a legitimate top tier offensive SG. I did kind of gloss over his post game but I have a feeling that he won't utilize it as much due to various factors-Randle/Kobe taking up most of the post up opportunities as well as the higher level of strength/IQ at the NBA level.
