Undrafted free agents and camp invites thread

Post#1 » by Slava » Fri Jun 27, 2014 3:27 pm

Anyone decent out there that would merit a camp invite? DeAndre Kane seems like a good candidate. We should be a very good draw for these guys considering we have next to nothing on the roster yet.

I think since we have such a huge hole at center (currently) we should try to invite some defensive big men. Patric Young is someone moonpie mention and I think is worth a look.

My sister's best friend Roberto Nelson from Oregon State did workout for the Lakers before the draft so he might get a chance to be and summer league and might get a camp invite.

Problem with Patric Young is he's never been a shot blocker, rebounder or a great one on one defender. he's got a **** load of muscle and is short for the center position but that's where the comparisons to Ben Wallace end.

Patric Young is more like Perkins or Chuck Hayes.

i read on twitter LaQuinton Ross and Roscoe Smith will be play for Lakers summer league team.

how about Shim Bhullar ? You can't teach height.

I was surprised he didn't get drafted. He is a good player

The problem with Kane is that he is already 25-years old. Has like one year left until he hits his prime lol.

Do you think we could get LeBron and Melo on our SL roster?

Outstanding news with Kane...wouldn't be surprised if he makes the roster

Like Slava said,we got a ton of roster spots available and if we go "preserve the cap space" route and some of the minimum guys we had ask for too much money and can't be resigned,we can fill the roster with some of these dudes

More talented guys than ever went undrafted

Maybe we can trade LaQuinton Ross for Kevin Love. I don't know if this Love dude is worth a camp invite though.

The SL roster is rounding up nicely...definitely will be paying more attention than usual

Randle
Clarkson
Mbakwe
Kane

If Mirja is right with Ross and Smith it's even better

Kelly will probably play since he didn't last year and he's entering his sophomore year
Manny Harris maybe?

Gone are the days when our best players were Devin Ebanks and Derrick Caracter

Some notables that are off the table it seems though I'm not sure if some of these teams are strictly running the Orlando SL or if they'll do Vegas too.(if that's even still going on this year)

Ejim-Sixers/Spurs
Bhullar-Kings
Burton-Wizards
Kilpatrick-Sixers
Moser-Celtics
Fair-Mavericks
Baron-Bulls
Edwin-Sixers
Appling-Suns/Blazers
Wilbekin-Sixers/Grizzlies
Kirk-Cavaliers
Bachynski-Bobcats/Knicks

Free agents still on the board (to my knowledge)

James McAdoo
Patric Young
Casey Prather
Bryce Cotton
Khem Birch (though it looks like he might head to the Clippers/Wizards)
Jahii Carson
Jabari Brown
Artem Klimenko (though it looks like he's heading back to Russia to rehab an injury)

These undrafted kids all typically have several glaring flaws. Doesn't hurt to give him a shot unless we think this Mbakwe guy is better. Maybe it's just me but I'm really biased towards kids with high character/intangibles.

bummer. Slim Baller to the Kings summer league team. I like LQ Ross though and LA desperately needs SFs. Hopefully he'll show out.
