I think after the top tier free agents fall off the market. We'll turn our attention to what we plan to do with Henry, Meeks, Farmar, Hill and Young. My best guess 3 of those guys will be back at reasonable deals. Meeks probably will be one of the 3

Depends on the market. If he's getting a ton of yrs and approaching an MLE type of salary, i think the Lakers will have a tough time committing to offering a similar contract.
What type of contract did you envision the pistons offering?

Mitch has bigger fish to fry at the moment. I'm not a fan of resigning Meeks because other positions need to be filled first (SF, C).
He'll probably get Mini MLE money from a team who needs shooting.

The short answer is no. The team needs to move forward. We already have Bazemore behind Kobe in the depth chart.

Bazemore wasn't extended a qualifying offer, it's doubtful he returns.

Yeah, too bad Baze has good size and an all around player. I'm actually torn on who's better him or Meeks tbh. aside from the players mentioned by lpp, I can see the management offering Wes another contract. wing position is somehow stacked with Kobe, Young, Wes, and X but I think Meeks still has a room there even if the Clarkson kid gets signed as well.
Nash/Farmar/Clarkson
Bryant/Henry/Meeks
Young/Johnson
That's actually a good combination of guards and wingmen.

Lakers will have Blaze back up Kobe as Meeks will command $3 to $3.5 a year...

I don't think Meeks will be back.. He's pretty much only good when Kobe is out & we're running a free flowing offense.

I would love to see Meeks back, but I don't know if it will happen. Leeprettyp was completely right when it comes to once the dust settles on the big names we'll then turn our attention to our own guys. Out of Hill, Young, Henry, Farmar, and Meeks.. I'll say two of those guys are locks: Xavier Henry and Jordan Farmar. The rest will totally depend on what the market is and who the coach is.

I'd be okay with Meeks back but only if he's starting on a perimeter with Kobe and Melo. Just catch and shoot. He loses his fangs as a reserve

can't see him as the PG and I don't want Kobe or Melo sliding at the 3 and 4.

team option year by year. Lakers need to have max room for every off-season until we make a Shaq/Gasol type of move. Don't want to be a treadmill team. It shouldn't take that long to get a marque guy.

Doing that 1 year deal stuff is a problem bro. When a big name player is on the market to be traded we will never have the assets necessary to pull the trigger on a trade. The Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving situations are prime examples of that
