So you're right OP they are, but from my calculations they'd have to take a boatload less for any real impact.

On July 11, if Lebron signs for 20, Bosh & Wade for 15, they're still not in great shape. With holds and 1st and Cole they've got 6.5 to spend. That's not buying Gortat or Lowry. Not getting Pau most likely.

Might get JHill and a 3nD guy like Thabo for that. Also have to leave room for resign of Haslem who did a huge favor opting out and probably Birdman.

If Lebron would take 17.5 and Wade+Bosh 13, then they're in busines for a big FA with 13m avail. Doubtful they'd drop that far since they took reductions the first time too.

And you know LA is offering max to James 22 (x4 year). 17.5 x5 year is 90 and beats. Lower though won't.

Odom and Artest took less money in 2009 to help us win in 2010. It's easier to take a paycut when there's a high chance you can win it all.

On a team like ours currently, it's tough to get guys to take pay cuts unless they're huge Laker fans (Young and Farmar).

Why Kobe's great he earned it. He sees the writing on wall it's not the "cool thing" for young free agents to go to LA till Kobe hangs it up. Might as well make money while the Lakers make a killing in ticket sales.

Nash use his thread. Same goes for Randall. A new idea does not need to be a new thread!
