He earned the money after playing well this season, but man DET sure did overpay. Not a good start for SVG.

Good for Jodie getting that money, but really poor decision by Detroit management IMO. In this new CBA, Meeks should've been priced at around $3-4M. If anyone wants a cheap Meeks replacement (as a 3rd string SG), I'd look at Andre Dawkins from Duke who is playing on Miami's SL team.

He still scored at an incredible efficiency ~ 60% TS and 40% from 3. usually bad players with greenlight on bad teams tend to throw up high PPG and low efficiency numbers so this is not an entirely stupid deal.

majority of the team all up career #'s....it's the system. Yes he did add the mid range and wasn't as 1 dimenional as the 1st year he was here but that is ridiculous contract none the less.

Some team might throw $8M at Young at this rate. I'd be fine with Baze as the backup SG though at around $2-4M.

No matter what system it is he still took more than 100 3 pointers and made 40% of them in NBA. A shot is a shot.

Doesn't actually strike me as an outrageous contract, just not a good one to model a winning franchise after, but as a piece, meh... Meeks had his moments and pretty much won a couple games on his own last few years.

Funny thing is if it was 5+ it would probably seem reasonable.

Like I said before, would have been nice to have kept Meeks but he overpriced himself with his career season with Lakers... Detroit definitely overpaid for Meeks, but hey I can't hate on him getting that money.

gonna miss his penguin ass. dude was our most consistent player last season, and he contributed to making an otherwise shit season being atleast fun to watch at times.
