Bulls hope to engage Lakers in S&T possibilities for Gasol

The Bulls face strong competition for Gasol, who has drawn interest from the Knicks, Thunder, Spurs and Heat. The Lakers, who paid him $19.3 million last season, also want him back at a reduced salary.
The Bulls could outbid all of those suitors except perhaps the Lakers. They left their meeting with the impression Gasol's decision wasn't imminent.
A source said the Bulls would hope to engage the Lakers in sign-and-trade possibilities should they get a verbal commitment from Gasol. The Bulls would dangle the expiring $16.8 million contract of Carlos Boozer and likely would have to include sweeteners, possibly in the form of draft picks. Steve Nash has an expiring deal the Lakers have shopped in the past.

I was going to say what do the bulls have to offer but that was before realizing they'd be willing to let the lakers take on boozer. Get it done Mitch.

If Gasol wants to sign with the Bulls then the Lakers absolutely need to workout a S&T deal with them for some future assets, that's just plain good NBA business. Boozer, picks, and maybe a young player should close the deal with Mitch.

No it's not good business unless the assets make it worth using up your cap. A sign n trade with the bulls would require that they compensate the lakers for two things, first for letting them get gasol at a salary they wouldn't otherwise couldn't offer and likely would result in them not getting gasol. Second they need to compensate the lakers for absorbing salary that is of no use to the lakers. This article makes it seem like taking on boozer is somehow a good thing cause he's expiring, laughable.
To start off they're going to be takingn on Nash to offset the salary te lakers would take on. Then they have to throw in some actual assets of value.

I would like the Bulls to take Nash as well or find a team who will take Nash.

Well I didn't think I'd have to say the obvious but yeah the assets would have to make absorbing his salary worthwhile... which would be good NBA business

Jimmy Butler plus a few picks for the right to dump Boozer's contract next summer and maintain flexibility. I wouldn't mind that.

Exactly! This is what I had in mind, maybe including Dunleavy as well so Boozer, Dunleavy, Butler, and picks for Gasol and Nash.

Picks for Pau lmao, he wasn't worth more than a second averaging 17 and 9 ....
If you're making them a Pau destination the price --->>> McBuckets/Boozer/Dunleavy ... Nash/Pau
It's far from ideal but hell I'd start Boozer at C, Randle at PF, McBuckets at SF, Kobe, and sign Lance.
Hill isn't a good defensive C himself, but at least boozer can board and shoot, that opens the paint for Randle, and hopefully Wally's clone can play SF. Then make a run at bringing back the like of. Nick, Hill, and Farmar to finish off the bench unit with Jr. Kobe's got worse **** to the playoffs

I highly doubt that the Bulls would trade McDermott... the best deal I see happening is Boozer, Butler, and a pick for Gasol & Nash. Don't forget, the Bulls really have to clear salary to acquire Gasol (or another FA) so the Lakers will make them pay a premium.

If they did trade for some package around Boozer, or rather his expiring contract, putting any significant effort into worrying what the rest of the team looks like is pointless. It's basically a punt until next summer.

Wouldn't Dunleavy need to go out for money sake, I mean were still talking about a cheap ass owner

Yeah that's true, so add Dunleavy and it should be a done deal.
