I thought there was a lance stephenson thread but I couldnt find it. If we fall out of the melo sweepstakes I would really try to lock this guy up.

Been on this kids bandwagon since his college days. I say 10-11 per year isn't too bad for a player like him.

give him that and MAX out Bledsoe or Monroe, I think thats ALOT better option then maxed Melo and Pau at 8mill or Max our Bled and find a way to get Pau his money like 2yrs 16-20mill

Theres something to be said about a guy crazy enough to talk "stuff" to the best player n the game. Seems like he has no fear. Kind of reminds me of a young Kobe throwing up 3 air balls. No fear.

Yeah, with that attitude, Lance will mesh well with Kobe. Once Kobe retire, him and Randle will have great character to begin their own journey.

go get him.

Exactly man! That's why I like this kids he's straight from the old school, talks trash, doesn't back down, plus does some slick a** finger rolls lol. But forreal kid can just compete. Plus he hasn't been in any off the court issues that I know of. Only worried about Charlotte though MJ might see the same thing we do.

for me signing a guy or two like stephenson to long term deals is a perfect way to look yourself into mediocrity.

Lance Stephenson is a nice talent. With someone like him, I wonder how he'd be once he signs that big contract and how much that would change him.

Exactly my thoughts. I'd be fine taking him if we already had a great team, but if we're trying to rebuild, that's not exactly the way to go. It's a bad signing for a franchise that's trying to rebuild. What exactly is Lance+Our current roster going to do, and look at what NOLA did to themselves; at least they have a bright future with Anthony Davis regardless.

The problem is that he already turned down 9M per, so to sign him will take 10-12M per, and you have no idea if the guy will go completely crazy or not. On the other hand, after Melo and MIA guys, he is the only UFA with star potential. If LAL misses out on Melo and Lebron, tough call whether to offer him a contract or not. For example, would you rather have I. Thomas from SAC?

Starting to think this is the back up plan if we strike out on melo&bron

I like the idea of Stephenson, but not with Thomas too. That would eat up all our cap space and not allow us to offer a max level deal in FA next year. Better to lock up Stephenson for 9.5M per (1M more on average than Pacers deal) and keep a Max slot available for 2015.

I'm thinking we offer Lance 9.5-10 for two years then be able to see if he's progressed into a star or whatever just in time for the 2016 FA class. With Isaiah if we get him cool if we don't cool.

Are people high on Stephenson because he's 23? He has a long way to go maturity-wise, and like I said before, I don't want to be the team that has to babysit him while he undergoes that process.

He won't be signing for two years, he'd be crazy to. Probably getting more than 10 mil too.

can't even begin to describe how dumb of a signing this would be considering the length and amount of money this guy would demand. The guy already has a 5 year 44 million offer from his own team which means we would have to offer more, that's just plain stupid. Not only that but the guy isn't even a very good player. He's very inconsistent on offense and has attitude issues on top of it.

just throwing a thought out there brotha, and we must be offering him something if we put in a call. Mitch obviously sees something in him that we dont.
