So Mitch could have signed him for 2M per and let him go to ATL? when LAL has a huge gaping hole at SF? can't figure out what the thinking is here, but have to consider this a blunder.

He's like a poor man's Westbrook but with lower IQ (if that was possible). He's too athletic to not be in the league for a while.

Biggest blunder of the Lakers' postseason.

He was a key asset the Lakers should have retained, a major priority. Upside was was bigger than his paltry new contract. Give him 30+ mpg, his elite athleticism, defensive potential w/ a 7 foot wingspan and quick feet, ability to shoot, finish, pass, his youth, plays hard, all of those point to his bankable improvement and undervalued asset.

One of the few legit bright spots to our team last year. So disappointing. Just as important as Ryan Kelly as a future building block. No caveats to his game - he was just a solid young player despite the mess of a team we had. He's just a baller, no excuses.

If the Lakers knew that Melo was a longshot (which was obvious from the beginning, but thank God he didn't come anyway), there was no need to be so tight with Bazemore when it's so hard to find good assets.

I would have paid him $4m just for this year with a second year team option. He's worth it (see Jodie Meeks' new contract). Lakers need to overpay every free agent if they want to keep 2015 flexibility anyways (see Jordan Hill).

Lakers should have let Nick Young walk. If Kobe is healthy, then the Lakers need to fill out the roster with appropriate teammates, not ball stoppers. Wes, X, sure. Multiyear contract for Nick Young - for what? I love the Lakers more than he does - where's my contract?

Kent Bazemore next to Jeremy Lin in the backcourt? That would have been fun.

Lakers should be gathering assets, developing them, trading up when the time is right, and building a good team culture so that the sum of their parts would allow them to play above their lack of star power.

Bazemore is that type of player, the right kind of competitor to build an underdog team, and it's just a shame we let him walk for relatively nothing.

This one we'll regret.

What are you talking about? This is on the Lakers' management. They could have made him a restricted FA for a million.

What was he waiting for? All signs showed that the Lakers weren't going to pay him anything.

Baze has long arms, but can't get to the line as much as Henry does. Funny thing is like X, he couldn't make these free throws after he got them. He's also 24. Clarkson has more upside. Baze's combo guard potential is essentially restricted to hesitation pullups at the elbow.

Nick Young has the potential to be a spark plug for years to come. He could become one of the best bailout guys in the league, which is more important than most people think.

A strong bench is important for every contender, and Nick could be that one guy who carries the bench scoring by himself. The Jamal Crawford comparisons are great, but what's even more important is the example the Thunder are setting. With no one to truly lead the bench, their starters get the job and they wear out.

If he was good he wouldn't have been traded from GS. And not for damaged goods Steve Blake.

He benefitted from a few months in the D'Antoni 'get guards paid offense' (see QRich, JLin etc) and will now go back to being an 11th-12th man.

No misstep here by Mitch.

He is a good player off the bench, not sure we wanted to spend that much on him. There are others out there that can be the next one in his spot for a lot less.
