2015 Free Agents

Well it's obviously "wait until next year" or maybe a year more. Sounded bad at first but after looking at the FA class and the cap room we will have next year, i'm kind of excited. The top two free agents for next year i would take over Melo and their max contracts should be a little smaller.

Also, we could easily have 25 million in cap space (Nash/Lin/decline option on Hill). Here is the link to next years current class, with Love and Davis heading it.

so if we signed a max player next year, we could still sign Durant the following year when Kobe rolls off the books.

If you already have this somewhere, please feel free to move it.

LMA and D Jordan are almost certainly going to sign extensions and after them, there isn't a whole lot to get excited about from an unrestricted standpoint.

Davis we might as well never mention again.

LMA said he's going to sign an extension next summer, so he'll be a long shot.

Depending on what happens this yr, Kevin Love might be an option coming out of Minnesota. If MIN trades him, it'll probably be to a team that he intends to stay with, so it'll become less likely he's available.

Marc Gasol is probably the gem of this class, we'll see. Strikes me as someone who will re-up with Memphis and stay the course there.

Tony Parker most likely isn't going anywhere either, i'd be shocked.

One person I'd want to look at his Goran Dragic. I'd want him over Rajon Rondo.

If Brook Lopez shows his health is no longer a big concern, i'd want to take a look at him.

True, but Anthony Davis is a stud (and one of the best big men in the game) and he hasn't extended yet and if Love is not traded to Cleveland, he is great too. Al Jefferson is solid as well

Am i missing something? Davis averaged 20/10 last year and has only been in the league two years. Are we thinking of the same person?

anthony davis will only be a free agent next summer if the pelicans decide to decline the rookie contract team option, which has a negative million percent chance of happening. in 2016, he can be a free agent but it'll be restricted free agency and its all but guaranteed the pelicans will sign him to a max contract at that time. davis is basically locked up til 2020, no need to discuss him.

ok, thanks for clarifying, the chart had him listed as unrestricted, it looked like the team option was already declined. Well thats a bummer, but there are a few more and we only need one next year. If we get one, we can sell to a top tier FA in 2016 and maybe Kobe will want to stay and take less money if he wants to continue.

He's doing this because he expects to be very vocal in the Players Association and thinks they can get rid of the cap when the CBA gets renewed in 2 years.
He believes he'll be inline for a contract like MLB players if there was no cap.
Which is ridiculous because NBA franchises are more expensive to run and the MLB is significantly more popular/marketable in the US. Not to mention the career arch of an MLB player is a hell of a lot different than that of an NBA player.

Also, take this as the biggest sign ever, that there's going to be another lockout in 2 years.
Might want to think about Kobe's contract the same way.

I have a hard time seeing LeBron leaving a team for the third time. Going back to Cleveland now has been a feel good story for him, but if he leaves again it'll hurt his legacy, and he'll be labeled as the ultimate bandwagoner.

However if Kevin Love ends up at the Cavs this season, he won't commit there long-term since he'll know James can be a free agent twice in the next couple of years.

My hope is K-Love for 2015, and then Durant for the following year. Maybe even resign Kobe on the cheap in 2016 (if he can still contribute), so he can go for that 6th ring.

Davis hasn't extended yet because he nor the team is eligible to do an extension. Davis has a team option for the 2015-16 season that you can bet will be picked up, then he's eligible for the QO the season after but he'll be extended that October in 2015. Bottom line he'll never see free agency, not even in restricted status.

Also with the new NBA TV deal it makes since for someone like Lebron not to be tied to a 4 year deal. He will get get a much bigger payday by going this route. I could see this team offering Klay Thompson a huge deal even though he will be a RFA.

He may not get traded to Cleveland but he will probably try to sign there via FA. Big Al is very underrated but isn't the way to go for the Lakers.

Lopez is definitely interesting and so is Dragic but Dragic's decision may depend on what happens with Bledsoe. I'm not sure what Phoenix is doing exactly right now with all those PG's. In terms of Lopez, I hope the Lakers FO keeps tabs on his health throughout next season. That Brooklyn team is gonna be blown up very soon so it may be a good time to pull the trigger on Lopez (if healthy).

Guys are hanging on to free agency too much here, bottom line some of the so called big names won't see the light of day of free agency. Because all they have to do is sign extensions the minute a team presents it to them. Take LaMarcus Aldridge, he's already said he'll sign an extension. So he's gone.

Don't look for free agency to land us the big name, that'll come in a trade especially once they change this CBA again.

The key for us is to build a competitive team that can grow in a short span, keep our finances in check and hide out in the weeds when the next CBA dictates what teams can't function in it.

We have a long road ahead... I hope Randle turns out to be something special.. That will be a start. With this team I can't see us being very good next year at all! Maybe worse than last year. Best case scenario at this point is another tank year with our top 5 pick and Houston's teen pick. Also the FO has had their hands tied since going after Dwight and Nash so it is what it is. You probably think I'm crazy but some of the best times I remember as a laker fan were from the early 90's when we were building from scratch. Guys like Peeler,Jones,Van Exel.. Never won a championship with us but it was fun watching them grow.

Time to take up another hobby to keep is distracted or stick around and see how this unfolds.

I'd love to see the Lakers sign Evan Turner to start at SF. He was playing very well for the Sixers before he was traded to the Pacers last season. As long as everybody stays healthy this team could make it to the playoffs, 7th or 8th seed.

C - Jordan Hill
PF - Julius Randle
SF - Evan Turner
SG - Kobe Bryant
PG - Jeremy Lin
