Who is going to be the Center

Seems like Lakers are a little thin at center. Sacre might be a off the bench back up, but we really need a solid starter. Anyone out there cheap.

That will probably be a decision made by the coaching sta.... Oh right.

Hill will start, Davis and Sacre will both see time (Sacre mostly with the burlier centers).

I don't see people's hangups with the fact that Jordan Hill will play center.

This isn't 1996 anymore, man, there are maybe a handful of players who play like traditional 5's.

Jordan and Davis's numbers are actually much better at that position anyway.

Not really thin at Center. Its obvious Hill will start. Especially since we paid him that much. Davis will probably be the backup and Sacre will be the third stringer.

Hopefully Davis hits the weight room so he won't get pushed around. It would make him a stronger center, but i do have concerns of him losing his quickness.

Hill should start at center and if he plays around 30 minutes, he should average 12 and 10 easily.

traditional heavy centers (aka Sacre's job to defend) who can bully people on offense:

Dwight
Marc
Bogut
Cousins
Kaman
Hibbert(sometimes)
Pekovic
Lopez X 2?

did i miss anyone (who has proved it already aka not Nurkic or any rookies)

I'd like to say off this list only Howard/Cousins actually punish their opponents with their size and even then Cousins seems to settle for a perimiter game once he knows the double is coming constantly in the paint. Marc can play that paint abuser but Zbo takes up most of the space/offensive game in the paint. As we all saw, Kaman likes his jump shot more as well. Bogut has no offensive game or its very basic, all he's good for is setting screens and rolling, same with Pekovic, most of his points come from put backs and PnR.

I think with young/athletic legs, with a system similar to Mia we could be decently affective in doubling everytime a big tries to post up as long as we rotate quickly and correctly (something our team seems to never be able to do). Mia had Bosh at C and got away with it for the most part, minus the offensive board part but Bosh was never that great of a rebounder (i know he avg. 11 reb/gm before but he was the only big in Tor at the time). If Hill/Randle are as tenacious on the boards as we think they are we wont get killed on offensive board as much as we think.

Love Sacre. He's our Roman centurion.

I see that from the raptor site (250). ESPN must have old info.

We're actually surprisingly well stocked at each position. If only the talent level were a bit better.

Makes me long for the days of Vlade Divac. He wasn't dominant like Shaq, or even an all - star like Howard and Bynum, but he was a good center.

Although Hill may be a good center with Kobe - he won't pass him the ball, but he can get some points off the offensive boards, where he is a strong player - if he can stay healthy.

Other than the cheap salary, I do not know why Sacre was extended. I don't see the strategical impact. Virtually every third - string center is playing on the cheap - relatively speaking, of course...

I hope Sacre worked exceptionally hard this offseason. If he did I think he can develop into a very decent backup center with the ability to fill in as a starter for brief stints should Hill get injured.

The first time I saw Jordan Hill play a game at Arizona I thought he could be something special. He's never really had the opportunity to shine. I'm really looking forward to seeing him as our starting Center this year.
