After an "extensive" search we hired our man in Byron Scott. Now the real fun begins--filling out his staff!

Too bad Walton taken already.

He, and Mark Madsen, that would be awesome.

Good stuff, ideally I'd like to see a good big man coach to develop Randle, ideally someone with great footwork and fundamentals. Working with Bigshot Bob might be the best thing for a guy like Kelly.

Just saw Madsen on the beach in MB. He didn't deny it when I asked if he'd be on the squad.

Also, wiki says Pressey was the original point forward. He and Horry would be good for randle Wes Kelly and Davis.

This might be the most out-of-nowhere hire if it ever happened lol.... but... what if.... somewhere..... Karl Malone was interested in mentoring Randle... Hmmmm....

Aaaaanyway.... lets be realistic here. I too say bring back Rick Fox!

How about Kareem?

I don't think Kareem is head coach material but he can be a solid assistant mentoring the bigs

That's too bad.
I wonder if he can get out of that obligation if offered an assistant coaching job

First look: Who will be on Lakers Coach Byron Scott's coaching staff

http://www.latimes.com/sports/lakers/la ... story.html

According to Gery Woelfel of the Racine Journal Times, via Twitter, former Lakers point guard Gary Payton is a candidate to join Scott's staff.

GP would be pretty interesting, teach Lin some tricks on D.

It would be HUGE for the Lakers to pick-up Horry.

HUGE.

I also think hiring The Glove would ensure future years of greatness at the guard positions for the Lakers.

When the Lakers look back the only thing else is to fill in the crucial behind-the-scenes stuff like assistant coaches (unsung heroes) and support staff that help the guys on the floor get better, gel faster, and win sooner.

The stuff that we don't see and hear - that is affecting performance, psychological profiles and all that good stuff.

LETS DO THIS.

^This makes me like GP a lot. Great article.

"He gets in the air and gets stuck," Payton said. "He's not learned to control his game yet. Control means when you get to the bucket at 100 mph—you can slow it down, read the defense and expose it with a hesitation. He doesn't have that in his game yet."

Also, makes me think Kobe will do wonders for Lin in that regard. It's the thing he always credits Phil for teaching him...slowing down, reading the defense.

As far as assistants, I like the promise Madsen has shown. GP seems interesting. Horry is really intriguing to me. My only concern is after being successful as a player do these guys have the drive to get down and dirty into the scouting and X's and O's of the game. You'd think usually star players don't have the patience to coach (at least as an assistant). There's a lot of grunt work involved. Gotta live and breathe it.

Would welcome all of these guys, just hope it's the right fit for them.
