Depending on what kind of guy he is, doing one won't necessarily preclude him from doing the other.KobeBryant24 wrote:Wavy Q wrote:2nd year player and gettin married smh, u a NBA player dont u know how much 10/10 thot pussy you could be smashin no matter how goofy you look.

he had enough thot pussy in college. They don't call him "machine gun" Kelly for his basketball game.

He's been working out like crazy since the season ended...last year this guy was coming off foot surgery and never had an nba training summer or training camp. So a rookie coming off a major injury into the season, not in shape let alone nba shape, onto a team amid the d'antoni chaos with no set rotation. Yet kelly still balled.
This year? Dude is going to be nasty.
Seven-footer who plays like a guard, mobile, can bomb it from outside, handle, pass, make plays...
Just get him some burn and he's gonna blow up.

Now only if we could get an NFL team here, maybe Bill Cowher could have an added reason to coach in LA.

Re: Ryan Kelly ties the knot
I had zero expectations of Kelly when we drafted him. The guy was hurt and missed games and was a fringe NBA player I thought.
But then I saw him play...dude does not move like a 7-footer, and he's got guard skills.
So put everything together...
Only a handful of legit 7-footers in the NBA. Fact.
He's not a stiff - he has some special skills, namely shooting, passing and making plays. Fact.
Without summer league or training camp, coming off a surgery, he quickly showed he belonged in the NBA. Ryan Kelly was essentially a rehabbing college kid who showed some serious chops in the NBA.
This summer he's been working out like a madman. His body already looks more defined, quicker, he looks like a small forward, not a 7 footer.
So you put a physically special player who has unusual skills for his position and the fact that he's busting his ass? I expect a huge improvement, more than the average college draftee who gets into the best shape of his life to move up the draft and is already tip top shape already. One thing I noticed these days? Most college kids are physically ready for the NBA...not the case 10, 15 years ago.
So anyways, yeah, I'm bullish on Kelly for tons of reasons. I would invest heavily on his stock, because he has inherent special advantages (size, skill, work ethic) while he had incidental circumstances that depresses his value (injury, team turmoil).
And yeah, Mitch wasn't shy about showing his surprise that they nabbed Boozer. Boozer's depressed value isn't his circumstances...he's just getting old and teams are looking past the moderate rates of scoring and rebounding and seeing that there's not much else there. And $3m isn't a lot of money for a backup big man, but the opportunity cost is, both in robbing Kelly/Davis/Randle of valuable playing time, as well as losing a valuable asset in Kent Bazemore.
And like Kelly, that's why I was (and still am) so upset that Kent Bazemore was let go, because the talent at shooting guard is actually thin around the league, and he's proven that he can shoot, pass, drive and finish, and, as important as all the previous things combined, his defense with his 7-foot wingspan on the perimeter with quick feet and hands. And his athleticism and motor are superior. Bazemore was undrafted, market for him wasn't big, but his physical attributes, skills, and work ethic make me bullish on him too. Both Bazemore and Kelly have serious potential that is about one-full-season-playing-starter-minutes away from being realized.
Look, of course people can look at numbers after the fact and be right 100% of the time. For example, the same people who trashed Dirk his rookie season (I still remember this vividly) were suddenly his biggest fans the following year. So yeah, hindsight is 100%, but if you're a pretend GM, what's the fun in that?
Lin-Kobe-Wes-Kelly-Hill makes just too much sense.
Then, an aggressive bench of Clarkson, X, Young, Randle and Davis provides a dramatic change of pace, depth, and offensive punch.
As long as guys like Nash, Boozer, and even B-Scott don't stand in their way.
