Kobe Bryant prediction

Post#1 » by jakeKCMO816 » Thu Sep 11, 2014 11:26 pm

Friendly CAVS fan here. I'm curious about how Lakers fans think Kobe is goin to play this season. Around the NBA the popular opinion seems to be that he is not gonna be the same Kobe... Or even close. Personally I see him averaging roughly 16 to 21 points per game and play around 65 to 70 games. What's all your best case worst case scenarios?

I'm predicting 24 ppg but it is like he had surgery. Mind over athleticism. I also predict we will see Kobe do that shot MJ did w/ the Wizards where he says screw coming down on my feet and just falls after making it. I fear the end is near when Kobe is too laid back off the court. He is the best when he his OCD for basketball is maxed out. 2 more years and then Kobe will chill for the rest of his life. But I bet he is obsessed with 'the final chapter'.

Depending where he plays the most.

Points 20+
Ast 5+ <<< we have more scorers so if he plays SF he'll get it done
Reb 7+ again depends where he plays SF or SG or even PG at times.

Games should be limited and shouldn't play back to backs as we need to save him for the Play offs.

where are the points going to come from?

it's not as if we're flush full of guys who can get easy scores other than kobe, young and maybe lin

kobe is going to chuck (and chuck efficiently) at epic rates if we are to get the 45 or so wins we need to make POs

thankfully for us, kobe will be kobe and will do anything it takes to be effective

i really hope kobe goes full "kobe johnson" in his last 2 year where he basically facilitate and setting up his teammates early on from the low post and kick it out to an open guy

kobe shouldn't hang around too much on the perimeter imo as we have a lot of guys who can penetrate (young, lin, X, and maybe Jrandle and wesley)

my expectation for the last couple years for kobe: 20-23ppg, 5-7apg, 4-6rpg 0-1spg, 0-1bpg, 40-45% 2pts, 30% 3pts

20/5/5 at 55% TS would be a great success but if he can stay healthy.

I am 100% with Slava at 19.8 points, 5.5 boards & 4.8 dimes on 46.5% shooting... That would be a success for the season... In terms of team scoring, don't sleep on Boozer, Young & Hill... That will get buckets as well... Scoring has never been our issue... We need to defend and get boards...

23pts, 6asts, 5rbs with efficiency. He's going to do what he's always done even with limited athleticism. I think the biggest problem for him is without that extra athleticism he's not gonna be a great closer anymore against superior defenses.

kobe is competing aginst ppg history ... and look at the roster. Its okay offensively but the lack of defense puts us in a position where we still cant avoid having too many of those "somebody-please-bail-us-out" nights.

There will be plenty of those nights. I say 24ppg. Injury will show, age will show, but king chuck will be in full effect, ladies and gentlemen. ... so get your HDTVs ready. Remember that oldman facial against brooklyn?

I always said kobe would be able to score 20ppg on one leg. Lets see if I was correct.

i got kobe around 23 ppg, but i certainly wouldn't call that same ol kobe like the description. i think his D will go from horrendous to hardenesque, all in all if he plays 60 games i'll call it a success.

Kobe should get blown by plenty at his age, but I look at how Fish was still able to be a solid positional defender for a long time even though for most of his career he was a step (and later four steps slow).

Kobe can play better defense, he just needs to make the effort and have the focus.

I will say in the past few seasons I've noticed Kobe trying to take more charges than I remember him doing when he was younger. He's pretty awful at absorbing the contact--and I'm not sure I even want him trying, but it was slightly encouraging to see him doing some of the small things.

My hope is the ticking clock of his career will make him not take anything for granted. In a perfect world, he's past the point where he's arrogantly giving up back doors, then calling for the ball to do some pull up 3 or an ISO counterpunch because he can and because he used to be the best.

Sometimes the old dog can harness the chip on his shoulder into great effort. We shall see.

If he's able to muster anything near 20/5/5, I think it'll be one of the greatest achievements of his career. If that's shooting over 44%, it'll be a joy to watch.

No way he will average 7+ rebs, i say 4 rebounds and 4 assists, and 22 points per game when healthy of course
