Nick Young's nickname of "Swaggy P" has seemingly universal appeal, but new teammate Jeremy Lin isn't sold yet.

"I call him Nick Young," said Lin after practice on Friday. "He's super cool, but I just find it ridiculous that everyone comes in here and just calls him Swaggy.

"You've got to earn it or something. And maybe he has, but I just got here. Maybe I'll adopt it eventually."

General Manager Mitch Kupchak and Coach Byron Scott have both used the Swaggy moniker in recent press conference.

"I guess there just has to be something that I see -- that when I look at him he just glows with 'swaggyness.' I'm not there yet," said Lin.

"No one calls me 'Linsanity.' No one calls [Kobe Bryant] the 'Black Mamba,'" he continued. That's why I think it's ridiculous that people call him Swaggy P."

Thank you Jeremy Lin, for having common sense. You are what it means to be a Laker. Nick Young has yet to understand that.

I hope people/media won't take this out of context... Lin was jokingly saying that and he said that if Nick Young wants to call him Swaggy P then he will do it.

He's accomplished much more than Young has and is much younger as it is.

Lin needs to chill, it's not like Nick had the name for years already. Hell he just made it up last year. How about both of them just shut the hell up and play some good ball this season. Neither has done NOTHING in their careers yet to be even giving this kind of conversation any pub.

Lin has this annoying arrogance to himself... Don't take yourself so serious and have a little bit of a sense of humor. "Swag" was outdated years ago and has nothing to do with the basketball games anyways. It's just Nick young being Nick young and being lighthearted.

Uh, no. He's been using it since he was a Clipper at the least. It's a stupid name and he puts more energy into this "Swaggy P" Moniker than he does his career. It's stupid.

Nothing about Nick Young is humorous. Except for how terrible he can be. But then it walks the fine line of being sad as well.

I'm with Jeremy Lin on this one. And not because he earned it or didn't earn it. I just refuse to address anybody with the name swaggy.

Either way as I said before....both need to shut the hell up and concentrate on ball and improving this teams record this season. Since people want to boast about how stupid it is to take this so serious...well it wouldn't even be a topic to discuss if Lin simply didn't fall for the reporters bait.

All he had to say is, " I'm not touching that one", but no he answers it as if it empowers him to say who deserves to be called a nick name or not. In all seriousness who the F--k cares if Nick has friends who calls him that.

Like I always say players need to learn Media 101 and how to deal with reporters,some stuff you just don't have to open your damn mouth for especially when you know the BS is going to be posted somewhere.
