Worthy and Horry sometimes make no sense on TW Sports

Just because your old school doesnt mean every point you make is the right point. Both are constantly on Kobes shooting, but do you see Kareem, Magic or Scott as a teammate James? Lin, is turning the ball over, getting lit up. Boozer, looks like my grandfather. Its easy to use the share the basketball style when you got talent on the team. Worthy and Horry need to understand this is arguably the worse Lakers team ever

To be fair, the team was doing better when sharing the ball, like the last game and for a while this game. Going at it alone is not gonna win games against good teams in the West. And the teammates would get demoralized. They aren't great defenders to begin with and it gets worse.

And, to be more fair, this is going to be the growing pains of this team. As evidenced in the Clippers and Warriors games, Kobe will defer to the PG, if that PG has a clear idea of what they want to execute on offense. Once you start looking unsure, confused, or the offense stagnates because guys still aren't completely on the same page....Kobe WILL come hard, seeking the ball.

Now, if people want to debate whether Kobe should still lay back, at let the team struggle, then fine. But, knowing Kobe, he's not trying to lose a game just to teach guys how to play. He wants the young guys on the squad to learn...but he wants to win as well.

Right or wrong, good or bad. That's the duality of Kobe. The most interesting man in the world. :P

Well, this is on the team getting more chemistry, the coaches figuring out strategies and most importantly reconsidering or better implementing the Princeton Offense.

I have a sense that Lin get passive very quickly when he sees someone on the team hogging, he'll just let him shoot and don't care. They've gotta figure something out that leads to teamwork and winning.

The team is simply not very good. Sharing the ball or Kobe chucking they dont have the healthy bodies or talent to compete. This is what happens when you pass up proved talent to chase free agent pipe dreams

I agree with your assessment B-scott. Not much more to say. Lots of the older ex players commentate through rose colored glasses, and do a lot of "they just need to do this and that".

The team is trying, it's just not good enough. With more experience together, time under the coach, players coming back from injuries and hopefully some talent acquisition near the deadline is really all we can hope for.

I mean, our starting line up is rusty Kobe, and four guys that wouldn't start for anyone in the league. What do they expect?

So, I must have been mistaken when I've seen either Lin, or Price, handling the ball going up court, with the Lakers on offense. Yes? And, if I'm not mistaken, the one with the ball has the power to dictate the offense. Yes, again?

So, if these things are a given, then the simple solution to keep Kobe from "hogging" and "chucking" would be to simply deny him the ball, yes? That way the team can focus on more advantageous matchups on offense, like.......................................hm.

All sarcasm aside, the Lakers are without a lot of potential offensive weapons, due to injury. So, their going to have to rely on teamwork to get our lesser talented guys good looks, and not rely so much on Kobe. However, this solution is also the crux of the problem. These are new guys playing together, playing in a system they don't know well. Chemistry is just not there yet. In these situations teams fall back on what works best...namely Kobe.

As the season progresses, I hope to see less reliance on Kobe, and more team integration on both ends of the court. I hope this happens with guys learning each other, guys getting healthy, and the coach making whatever adjustments benefit the team best.

It seems Lin's probably not the kind that would want to deny Kobe the ball unless it definitely wouldn't have worked. I don't mean other matchups, just have Kobe play more within a team offense.

Since Byron has said he's making no changes to the starting unit for 15-20 games, then the starting unit has to get on the same page. We see encouraging signs with Kobe, Booze and JLin texting each other before the Clipper game. We see that Hill has figured out an effective way to score (now teams will make adjustments if his shot keeps falling, but for now his mid-range is a threat). We see Carlos Boozer can find the big man and Lin has found a corner or wing feed to Boozer who feeds a big in the paint. We see good PnR from Ronnie and Jeremy to Davis (although we haven't seen the Davis/Lin connex from the pre-season). So, build on that. I think Kobe should ISO at times, but he has to pick his spots when best to do it. Lin is getting there as a floor general, but needs to do big work on his dribbling and handling traps better and needs to shoot more, much more. Get to the line. Also, Lin's pace isn't right, the team may have to play at a different pace on offense, like create earlier offense. Wesley, I don't know, but they have to figure out a better way to get him going if it's possible. His last game was semi-encouraging.

Defensively, they need better communication and really study the opposition better. They have the Suns for the second time in the season on Tuesday. Hope they've figured some things out. They're giving up too many points. I don't care how good the offense is, if the defense gives up so many points it's going to be an L.

That all said, the 4 games in 5 nights to open the season against such tough competition was a killer. They now have time to rest, regroup, practice, work some things out, and if not a win on Tuesday, another competitive game would be good with Booze/Lin stepping up and hopefully Wes doing some positive things and Kobe not having to work so hard. But the first win I hope can come on Sunday as it is demoralizing to lose and if you don't win, you'll question if you ever can.

I bleed purple and gold

But lets be honest this team is competing for a 1-5 lotto pick and the Suns are hoping we fail. We are not tanking. This roster is just that bad. I love the energy 36 year old Kobe bring. I don't like the shot selection and I don't remember old-MJ getting double and triple teamed like Kobe is. But I will watch every game. I want to surround Kobe with elite young talent and hope his work ethic rubs off on them. Like Brett Farve to Rodgers. We need another lotto pick so the torch can be passed.

Horry and Worthy are embracing contender basketball but this team does not have the personel. Kobe is still playing in the isoloese triangle/Princeton offense.

I;ve been following basketball for a very long time...sharing the ball will get you better results. It keeps the d honest, it creates chemistry, and it allows for the right play most of the time. I understand these are new guys...but chemistry is usually better when the leader acts like one and learns how to get the team to play better as a unit.

I also think that the Western Conference is just stacked...and that our weakness is on display even more.
