Bryant to Knicks Rumor

Read that Kobe to Phil Jackson Knicks was a possibility. Makes sense. Stoudemire is in final year and Lakers get cap space next season plus perhaps a young player and draft pick.

The final option is for the Lakers to convince Bryant to waive his no-trade clause and let the team trade him. If Bryant can show over the next month or so that he’s healthy, several teams that are trying to compete for titles could show interest.

A reunion with Phil Jackson in New York would be especially possible, and a trade that netted the Lakers young players like Iman Shumpert and Tim Hardaway Jr. along with a 2015 first-round pick and a big expiring salary like Amar’e Stoudemire‘s or Andrea Bargnani‘s could meet the Lakers’ needs.

Guess its not much a rumor except a suggestion from a Chad Ford article.

This is really, really unlikely, as the Lakers have very little incentive to trade Kobe. Kobe is the reason why the team is still somewhat relevant, despite the terrible roster and the constant losing. The only way I see him joining Phil and the Knicks is through free agency, and even then it's still a stretch.

Kobe would have to waive his trade clause. Secondly not many teams could take on his contract. Yeah would Phil possibly do it to be competitive this year? Maybe, after all he does seem to be holding on to the past with some of the moves he's made. Would I like to see it happen? yeah because it gives us a better chance at keeping our pick and allows us to go in complete rebuild mode a year earlier. Having said that, it's just talk and I don't see our FO ever making this move since they'll want to maximize revenue as much as possible in a down year.

I actually think the lakers brass secretly wants this. I would not be shocked if the main reason they resigned him was to protect their asses. If Kobe would had left after everything that had happened the fans would have destroyed the Lakers and they would obviously lose a lot money. However if Kobe forces a trade then the lakers can say well he wanted to go, we tried to keep him. I know it seems crazy. Just a thought.

Kobe leaving is just not happening. You know how much less Laker tickets would sell for? Like kinda a lot

Kobe does not want to leave his home and all he has built. He wants to become the next Magic or MJ and being in NY will not get that done. Plus what will the knicks have to offer. They also have spent a lot of draft picks over the years. So picks down the line a few years do us no good now. Over paid players coming here. Another set back. Yes, it get free agency here 1 year faster. But just bad business. Has to be something out of this world coming to LA. Bricks do not have that.

It is too early but I do think there could be some traction IF Kobe forces the issue as that would give the FO the option of supporting Kobe & doing the right thing... Lakers could get Iman, Hardaway, 2015 1st & an expiring... Assuming we keep losing that would give us 3 2015 1st round picks plus no contracts on books... We could chase Lenard & a couple other players... All Star break could be very interesting...

If MJ could play for Washington... Kobe could at for NY...

The only thing that would make this season worse would be having to watch Kobe in a **** Knicks uniform. Pretty sure I would stop watching basketball for the rest of the season, at least.

Kobe and Melo. That would be the Knicks best one-two punch since Franchise and Starbury.

I don't know, if we get any assets in return while freeing up space a season sooner I do not see any downside in trading Kobe anywhere. I'm far less sentimental in that regard.

Honestly, this would be a good move for Kobe. I think Phil is the only coach that can manage his ego. He's had complete reign over this team since Phil left, which has become detrimental to the organization. He's like a vacuum sucking up all the shots, touches, money and playing time.

On the flip side, we're not making much noise for the next couple of seasons regardless, so we could just hang on to Kobe and let him do his thang. Gives us a good shot at a protected pick in 2015 and let's him retire a Laker.

I prefer the first option. I think last season was much more enjoyable than this one is looking. If Jordan could play for the Wizards, Kobe can play for the Knicks.

"I hear the chatter of Kobe should ask out and he should go and play for a contender in this latter stage of his career," Bryant told Yahoo Sports. "But that's not what I do. I'm extremely loyal to the Lakers.
