his excuse is lame though, because his parents did it he didn't think its wrong? Its a lame/ignorant excuse, my parents whipped me too and now I have kids and use some sort of corp. punishment too but not as severe as them if they get really bad but I'm not gona tell cops I didn't know it was wrong if I ever get in trouble.

Tough situation. I believe in disciplining your children, but I also believe in setting examples for your kid and being a role model. Howard is far from that.

Adrian Peterson did not go to prison either but he's getting suspended for the season without pay from the NFL. Domestic violence and child abuse are critical issues right now and I wouldn't be surprised if the NBA came down hard on him.

The NBA is pretty much forced to suspend him because of the Peterson thing... It's going to be a PR nightmare if they don't. If he gets indicted and this thing goes to trial, Howard's done for the season. He has to be.

And we'll get to see just how powerful the players union is.

And by the way, there is no reason whatsoever to hit a 6yo with a belt. Even if it wasn't the buckle.
If he was a little older, maybe I could see it. But at 6 and with a dad like Howard, a spanking should have been more than enough.

Language is so funny. We created the word "spank" to substitute for "hit" so that people wouldn't have to say "I think a hitting should have been more than enough". Really, a hitting would have been more than enough? How about using logic and reason and teaching the kid to think instead of acting like a reactive animal.

That's the only distinction that matters here. If he had done that, there wouldn't have been a story.

As for teaching a kid... There are some kids you can tell not to touch the stove fifty times... With visuals, and they'll still touch it... But burn themselves one time? Lesson learned.

Adam Silver is no follower. He sees the **** storm created by Goodell playing it by air and making it up as he goes. I think Silver will await the judicial process before making any decisions.

If the public/sponsors go crazy enough (see AP) can the nba suspend him simply for admitting that he did it, even if the courts find him "not guilty"?
