I'm not sure so we can win enough games to keep us in the playoff race.. so with that said what kind of additions do you think the management needs to make to keep us in the playoff hunt?

mitch can't just walk into a shop and ask for a gasol trade
the lakers have tons of expiring contracts but no picks and won't trade their young talent, seems like a recipe for "let's see who we can convince to sign in LA"... in 2015, this years' summer FA season has sailed
that said, i would ask for the DPE on nash, waive a guy like henry and then try to convince ray allen to play with kobe
basically, fat chance, but how funny would it be if we had 3 players from the 96 draft?

Do you guys think the Lakers should give Tyrus Thomas a chance? he had a work-out with the Lakers but no report of how he did besides Miller getting the best of him..... he can still give you elite athleticism and shot-blocking...... I think it would be stupid not to sign him.

I think it would be stupid to sign him. To each his own.

The whole roster? Just keep Kobe, Swag, Clarkson & Randle.

You can't really choose the type of player the Lakers can get. Basically you find a broken relationship with a team and player, one which might be flying under the radar, and look to see if you can add the player, if you think he's worth the risk.
With that kind of scenario, you take what you can get. It's basically like Boozer, who love him or hate him, was a steal, and is contributing at least.
And in doing so, most likely you give up an asset, like Ed Davis. So careful what you wish for.

I traded Nash and MWP for Lillard and Batum in 2K13. Just fyi......
Heh. I don't know what the Lakers can do when most of the roster was pulled from the NBA gutter. Miller would be nice. We have enough players who can't make 3s, so we should waive Henry for him. We have no real SFs outside of Wes.

We could likely get Kirilenko for a pittance.

How washed up is he? (I know, I know--even if he is, he'd fit right in.)

This was from the Rockets thread, but Kilroy's post had me wondering....
Kilroy wrote:Not sure why they think a PG is the biggest need. I think we need an interior presence more. I guess that's too hard to find.
I was on Basketball-Reference and found it interesting that both of our rotational PGs have a turnover percentage of just over 23%...that seems mighty high to me.
But then again last year (not a great comparison, since we don't want to compare ourselves to one of the worst seasons in LA) we had Marshall who turned it over at a higher rate (25.6%), but also assisted at 44.3%...as compared to Price's 27.2 and Lin's 23.7....
So essentially, with Lin on the floor, statistically he's nearly equally likely to make a turnover as to make an assist. And Price is just barely more likely to assist than turnover. We gotta clean it up in that regard, because that can't be helpful to our transition defense.
Obviously it's not as simple as raw numbers, Marshall from last year didn't play with as ball dominant a wing as Kobe, so the assist percentage was allowed to be higher...although I'm not sure even that's true, because while Lin's USG rate is only 17%, Marshall's was lower, 16%....
Anyone wanna interpret these tea leaves?

Seems like Jordan Hamilton is available. I would like to give him a try and Quincy Miller as well. We are thin on the Forward spot. Especially on the PF since Randle and Kelly are suffering from injuries. i think Miller could help in that department. PG spot is not much of a concern since we have Lin, Price and Clarkson. I don't know about the C spot. I'm not sure if Hill and Davis are natural C's. Seems like they are more of a PF in terms of size. But again, I'm not quite sure.

Pretty much right and Marshall's numbers look even better when you notice that he did it over far more possessions per game and a higher paced offense. He was a gifted passer.

Right now I would say AK47 is a guy just because he's kn the end of the bench and can play both 3/4
I would also Gerald Green late to mid December who is a free agent this coming summer. Him Going frees up time for all their guards, Tucker, and the twin. Right now guys get benched for the hot hand on that team and all the guys but him got paid or will get paid in Dragic. We can likely sell them kelly and x with a second since their med staff would patch them up and they are cheap backups.
Jackson and Perk is a Jerry Buss poker move. If he was here we would wait and use the fact harden wasn't paid to our advantage and near the new year after OKC is in a hole, swoop in and offer nash, clarkson, Sacre, and the Houston first at least. You take your chance of getting an extension with jackson or matching. Dwight burned us but no nuts, no glory
I would also look at Denver struggling and Nate/McGee to trim their payroll if you can't land a deal with OKC

And yes come March if we are in it this march gets interesting with Metta, Beasley, and West all leaving China and being eligible
Ray Allen and JO may also join on to teams late like PJ Brown did mid season as well

I don't think AK47 is washed up, I think he doesn't get along with Hollins. He is shooting poorly this year, but his D is much better than Wesley's and shooting poorly could still be an upgrade to Wes.

I don't think he's washed up just injury prone and can be emotional. I don't think Hollins has time for that. He needs shooting and isn't looking for what Ak brings. Another similar f that's benched is Prince in Memphis

Prince is benched cuz he sucks and can't shoot, why would the lakers need another forward that can't shoot?
