Hardship exception granted to extend roster to 16 players

The Lakers have been granted a hardship exception by the NBA to increase their roster to 16 players.

With injuries to Xavier Henry (Achilles' tendon), Steve Nash (back), Julius Randle (leg) and Ryan Kelly (hamstring), the Lakers have had just 11 healthy players for the last two weeks.

The normal regular season maximum is 15 players. If the Lakers do take advantage of the hardship exception, they'll need to get back down to 15 once Kelly returns.

Heard they were granted that last week and had a 2-day window to use it...but they failed to do so.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Clark and just forever benching Boozer.

Yep, Hardship exception is gone. Expired and unused, according to an update from Mike Bresnahan.

Still don't get why they don't cut X. Is there any reason you guys can think of?

Trade filler or can't he be traded because he's on a one year deal? A lot of things this team is doing doesn't make sense

I just think they don't see any moves that will make too much difference in the direction this team's going.

There is also a slim possibility they have a move or 2 lined up that negates the need for the exception. But I kind of doubt it. I think we're going to stand pat. I think Kobe is going to play until he passes MJ on the scoring list, and then they'll try to convince him to sit.

And we'll crawl through the rest of the season and see if we can end up with a groovy draft pick. :sleep2:

It has expired, so it really is a mute point now.
