we win, we slip back into 6th worst record, with a 22% of keeping our pick

we lose, we get jumped by detroit and we're 4th worst record, with a 83% chance of keeping our pick

OVER 60% DIFFERENCE

tanking is game where you want pole position, that way, your position is in your hands, not the hands of another tanking team

Recently, one of the reporters from BBallInsiders suggested that the Lakers might make a move for Dragic or Reggie Jackson and perhaps swallowing Perkin's contract pill.... to turn the season around... if that is the case... then the Lakers will likely lose the pick...

lol, turn the season around, the 8th seed suns are +3 wins from .500, we're -13 wins from .500, this season ain't turning around even with lebron

dragic and jackson are both free agents in the summer

those reporters are idiots if they think the lakers would sacrifice their season and risk losing both their pick and the soon to be free agent

same thing with love, same thing with rondo

another dwight situation and the lakers set the franchise back another 4 years

It's obvious... if the Lakers were to acquire either Jackson or Dragic the Lakers will seek a long-term commitment..... you can't simply compare the Howard situation.... cause Howard was gonna bolt especially when everyone knew he couldn't stand MDA or Kobe...... the Lakers need to collect assets even if you don't agree with it.

the only player we would probably trade for is jackson, because he's RFA

but with OKC, anything near a max contract offer for jackson and they'll probably not match

dragic is UFA, he'll be 29 in the summer, i doubt he's going to get the max from LA or anyone and as such, probably won't want to stick around long term waiting for the lakers to become a contender

if dragic wants to be a laker, he can become a laker in the summer where he's committed long term instead an expiring UFA with a first row seat to how bad we are in addition to losing the lottery pick to his old suns

look, i'm all for accruing assets, i'm down for selling hill and anyone else on the roster for picks or players with upside with longer than 18 months left on their contracts, those assets you can parlay into a proper star

but not assets that expire in 6 months and the potential for losing them for nothing.
