I'm sure the Pistons are in a rush to trade players that are responsible for the season turnaround.... the Lakers are better off selling there players for draft picks .. but that is even unlikely.

I guess they're not breaking the team up anymore. They could make the playoffs! It's the East!

Don't really care that the lakes inquired about these players, I'm sure teams discuss dozens of players that never become public and in isolation make little sense.

What concerns is that someone inside the organization thought leaking this info would make the lakers look good or that someone thought so little of the fan base that they thought this would appease their appetite for any news on the lakers trying to make moves.

You only leak the names you have no chance of, and little interest in acquiring.

even if its purposely leaked detail, mgmt. must be out of their dam mind inquiring about Jennings.

You pretty much have to inquire about everyone at this point... We're not targeting any one position, we're building assets and seeing if we can acquire a 'core'... If you get the right 2 or 3 other players, maybe Jennings is a good fit...

They pretty much try to start with a pool of possibilities and work it into an actionable plan. Regardless... It doesn't look like Jennings is available.

We're not in a position to acquire players to get better right away unless you're looking to give up Randle or your future picks. We should be selling right now, not buying.

See, you can't say that with that level of certainty, because we all have limited information about the market... We're ALWAYS selling and we're ALWAYS buying, it just depends on the deal that pops up.
As Doc pointed out, there are drawbacks and benefits for keeping the pick this year vs giving it up and getting the one next year, etc... That's the way it always is.
The team is always trying to find that perfect combination of events that leads to improvement.

That said, I would say that selling right now is probably more likely given how difficult it is to complete one trade much less the multiple it would take to turn this team into something worth loosing the pick over. But that doesn't mean we don't look at every possible option to acquire players either...
