What C's and PG's free next year??

Post#1 » by SlimShady83 » Fri Jan 23, 2015 8:01 am

What up all got to be real quick.

I'm curious to know what are the Center's and Point guards that are FA's next season and who have a chance of being traded or even keen to play for LA?

i think Dragic and Gasol would be the perfect fit. Wouldnt mind Jackson or Knight, and Monroe either.

It looks like were going to go for Rondo and Dragic. As for centers Gasol and Monroe. I think depending on the what we get with out lottery pick we will go after the players in FA.

Monroe and Randle don't mesh well IMO.

Gasol just doesn't seem realistic to me in the slightest.

Dragic, I believe, could be attainable, but at what cost? The max for him at his age would be through the roof.

Dragic isn't worth the max for a 29 year old veteran.

Too much money--plain and simple.

Go young plain and simple let's build with Randle.

Knight would be a bliss signing of even offer him a huge contract not max though.

How would Monro and Randle not work?
If Milsap & Horford can work why couldn't they?

Why would Gasol leave a team that's guaranteed to make the playoffs over La?

I've always like Baynes from the Spurs wether his a starter or not though his huge and physical & can shoot FT.

How much cap space do we have for FA this offseason?
On the hypothetical if we used the stretch provision on Kobe how much would we have then?

DEFENSIVELY, Monroe and Randle might have a great deal of problems. I like Monroe, but he's more Al Jefferson than Dikembe Mutumbo. With this team the way it is, especially with Julius Randle added, a Mutumbo-type is needed much more than an Al Jefferson-type.

Speaking of Als, Horford and Milsap are both excellent defenders. In addition to both of them being long, based on what I've seen, they are excellent position defenders as well. No real comparison there buddy. We can only hope that Randle becomes the defender that Milsap is.

At PG, I want Shaun Livingston (backing up/"splitting" time with Kobe), and at center, I want a platoon of Brook Lopez, Chris Kaman, and a little bit of Kevin Garnett.

Sign Kawhi Leonard (1st choice/extreme long shot) or DeMarre Carroll and I roll out a defensive team that has the framework of something like this:

OFFENSIVE FACILITATOR - Bryant - Livingston
DEFENDER of PGs - Briante Weber - Freddette
MAN IN THE MIDDLE - Brook Lopez - Chris Kaman
POWER FORWARD- Kevin Garnett - Julius Randle
SMALL FORWARD - DeMarre Carroll - Wesley Johnson

Gasol
Randle
Wes Johnson
Rondo
Kobe

With Picks from this years tank

Kobe coming off the books to get Durant..

Possible?

Unless kobe is gone, the lakers don't have enough cap for two of these players

With the projected cap lakers will have about 25 mil in cap with kobe on the books. Marc gasol's max deal would already leave you with less than ten mil so not enough to get a second big name

So any "max type" dude would be signing here with the understanding that he'd be on a team with Kobe and two high draft pick rookies ... that's it.

Makes it even more unlikely that a max dude would sign here, unless of course they sign a guy to a max contract who really isn't really worth it, in which case said player would be signing here out of shear flattery.

IMO the last part is the most likely scenario if in fact the lakers decide to sign someone to a long term deal.

For a player with multiple max offers, which most likely includes his own team, coming to the lakers would require the player to sacrifice money and come to a bare bones roster.

If the lakers go after a 2nd tier player though, they are able to possibly over pay and lure the player here. Then next yr the lakers can hopefully offer an already in place 2nd star, and two blossoming studs in randle and the lakers top 5 pick. If the lakers can line up a 3rd banana at the same time with the extra cap due to Kobe's being off the books, all of a sudden they look a lot more appealing to a max player.

If we don't get someone big (Love, Aldridge, etc) then offer Rondo 15m a season and that's good. Fill the rest with one year deals and let's at least start a foundation.

I like Rondo's game when it's properly and contextually placed, but that deal is a great example of the type of REALLY BAD contract that I would never, ever do.

We shouldn't sign guys just to sign guys.

I'ma tell you like I tell my wife: "Don't go shopping just to shop--find the bargains."

Low money each year and/or minimal years.
