Hassan Whiteside

Now Whiteside is a free agent that we should pursue aggressively this off-season. He has not played in a lot of games, but this season he leads all NBA centers in PER ! He fits the mold of the Laker Centers, 7 foot, 265, and a shot blocker. Yes, go get him Mitch and sign him to a long term deal. Here are Whiteside's stats this year:
GP MIN FG% FT% OR DR REB AST BLK STL TO PTS PER
19 17.1 .653 .548 1.7 5.0 6.7 0.2 2.4 0.5 0.9 8.2 27.01

Get off this pipe dream, Riley isn't going to let him walk. Guys have stop thinking teams will just let a guy escape just because he's a FA. You have to start RESPECTING the man that runs that team, and I know Riley well....once he's found something he's just not going to go dumb all of a sudden.

Dude has been putting up supernatual numbers, there's absolutely no way miami lets him walk.

Imagine Ellington repeats last night's performance for two more weeks. You think LA would let him walk over a few million?

Yeah, just looked it up and he is a restricted free agent, bummer. Agree with Sessions 7, lets max him out. Make Miami match.

This is why I'm not opposed to trading Wayne/Hill, then scouring the D-League for another replacement. There will be useful players in the 23-24 age range that you can probably nab on a team friendly 2 year deal if he plays well on a 10 day. Again, it's not like there's a whole lot to play for this year.

He had 24 rebounds to go with 16 points Friday. He is not going anywhere. He just became a true player.

Team option ... Short of Miami wanting to do him a favor and lock him up I don't see him becoming a fa. If he did, by all means go for it, but is unlikely

Yeah, Whiteside is signed through 2016, and Riley will fight you in the street before he lets anyone take that talented big man off his hands. It's really amazing to see what this Whiteside fellow has managed to accomplish in such little time with the team.

this is what i dont understand about these professional scouters and gm's in the league. hes that good now yet a couple years ago his rookie season no one talked about him nor his upside? all we heard about was a oden (insert all the busts prospects). ya really convenient for us huh? player breaks out and everyone sees his potential so lakers just signs him lol. randle/clarkson was supposed to do this for us :(

Reminds me of Bynum but more enthusiasm and motivation.

I thought so too, but the pre-injury plagued Bynum, not as offensively oriented as that Bynum before the 1st knee injury but his rebounding and D look just like Bynum.
