Look, there's no one that can justify his contract. He's not a good player. Period, point blank. Let's leave out how unprofessional he is. Let's leave out his stupid swagtard gimmick. Let's leave out stupid mannerisms. Let's leave out his swagtard sayings, attire and hair styles. Leave out his stupid nickname which he gave himself though not having the credentials to do so. Leave that all out. There are people that still REFUSE to speak anything to the following.
He's inefficient:
He's shooting .367% percent for the year. You read that correctly. There's no excuse for this. No "He's a bench player", no "He's supposed to our sixth man", no "He's a scorer". This is horrendous. Everyone else this year that's shot this terribly has been blasted, either on this team or others. Nick Young stans refuse to acknowledge this.
Go look at all the players shooting around the same percentage shooting and playing near the same amount of time. CJ Miles, Marcus Smart, Steve Blake, Trevor Ariza, Lance Stephenson, Nicolas Batum, the list goes on. These players at least contribute in some form or another? What does Nick Young provide? Nothing, that's what.
He doesn't make plays for others:
This also usually gets the excuse of "He's not on this team to do that, he's here to score.". And? Young's averaging 1.1 assists for a year. He's averaging 1.1 turnovers for the year. So let's get this straight, a guy who is shooting .367% from the field and is just as likely to turn the ball over than contribute to the game via assisting is somehow valuable asset? How is anyone defending this?
He's a terrible defensive player:
He's either the victim of low defense awareness or lack of effort on any given play. He's never averaged at least one steal a game to boot. Again, how does anyone defend this?
He's a poor rebounder:
Again, either through lack of effort or lack of skill, he's a poor rebounder for someone who's standing at 6'7. He averages 2.3 rebounds for the year. Go look at all the people who play almost the same amount of time and see what they average. Look at what the people around the same height average. Look at what people shorter than him average. Again, how does anyone defend this?
People act as if Nick Young is some young dude. He's going to be thirty this year. His time to "get it" is long gone. This is who he is and he's only going to get worse.
So I as you, how is anyone going to defend paying this dude five million a year until the 2017-2018 season? He's not a guy who's going to improve the locker room. He's not going to mentor anybody. His play on the court is terrible. He's gets moody when he doesn't get the ball and then stops giving what little effort he does on defense.
You can call me a hater all you want, but you know this contract is not justifiable. The grand majority of you got got by a stupid gimmick, and now we're going to have lug this contract around until we either wave him, buy him out, amnesty him or con some team into trading for him.
You know how the lot of you either bashed Gasol, Walton, Vujacic or Farmar for their contracts and play? Hell, at least they contributed in ways. Nick Young does not.
You know how we all hated Steve Blake for his horrible play, especially during his first season here in 2010-2011? Yeah, well currently Steve Blake is having a better year than Nick Young. Yet, Nick Young seems to escape criticism. Unbelievable.
