Do we have any Love for Kevin Love?

Just wanting to hear your thoughts on whether we should get go for him in free agency or not. In my personal opinion Kevin Love should not be on our list of free agent targets.

First of all Love has a bad back I can only think of Larry Bird when I hear a player has back spasms. He has not won anything in the West and we would just become Minnesota T-Wolves part II.

Secondly if Love is getting called out by Lebron for being soft what will he do when Kobe is grilling him in practice? This leads into if he can be a leader something for which he was called out in Minnesota.

With Loves health, and his leadership it is a bad combination for Kobe to pass on the baton to.

Its the same as I felt when we were dealing with Dwight's free agency. If he comes here, great. If not I'm not losing any sleep over it.

I love K Love despite his season. UCLA. Amazing rebounder, passer and shooter. He needs a coach like Scott to develop him. I would love for him to come to LA then target UCLA Westbrook next. Team them up w/ Oak and Randle. Kobe sticks around like Kareem in the late 80s because of team chemistry. That's my rebuild pipe dream.

A max this year will be like a 10 mil contract after the new cap hits. Many players are worth the max this year.

Which is why unless his back issues are serious, he'll pick up that option and go for a max in 2016.

I'm meh on Love, sort of soured on the guy. Although i like the idea of randle at sf like a big game james type of player but with other PFs in mind.

He also seems to keep dissin the idea of coming here, could be for future negotiations purposes but don't like that either. I think we could do better.

I'd love to have Kevon Looney, Julius Randle and either Okafor/Towns :droop:

I am no longer a fan plus that is the one position we don't have a huge need as I would like to give the keys to Randle... Randle can't play SF & Love can't play center... That is a terrible fit for us... Love is better than Randle but not at $20 million and a bad back... Let's focus on other needs as we have many...

if he comes great, if not whatevers....wouldn't be so bad to have him either though, if Randle wanted to expand his game to the perimeter and learn how to defend these stretch 4's of the league, Love would be a solid player to practice against.

Love would be replacing Boozer in the grand scheme of things, not Randle. Unless we plan on tanking again the front office would still plan to use Randle off the bench until he proves otherwise.

Problem is that is Love isn't replacing what Boozer would bring: a patsy vet PF who could take the fall (be benched) easily once Randle is ready.

Love on the other hand would essentially create a longterm logjam, as he'd either need to be the first or second option offensively, and no way would he come off the bench. It would create an awkward disharmony on the team and the media would make a pending trade seem inevitable. Plus stunt Randle's growth.

Only way I'd consider it is:

1. The Lakers are sure Randle doesn't have "it" in which case, why the hell did they draft him?
2. The Lakers will rent Love for a season or two, then trade him when Randle's ready.

Again, that seems sort of pointless to me. Also IF Kobe were healthy I could see fielding a team that would have the immediate future in mind, but really there's no point it next year. There just isn't.

Having said that, I have no belief Love would come here. He's given zero sense he'd even consider it, sucks at defense, poor leadership, and we just don't have the spot for him. Couldn't imagine a less-ideal signing.

I don't see him hindering Randle. Love is a top notch PF for the next 4 seasons. If Randle takes 4 seasons to develop, he can be the back up PF/6th man ala Lamar Odom. At the end of Love's contract you make the decision based on who to keep and who to send away.
