Picks Owed....

I read on the trade board and seems to me since we're gona more than likely going to lose the pick next season to Phi then we wouldn't have to give up 2017 1st to Orl regardless of protection till 2018 since we're not suppose to go b2b season w/o a pick. But let we suck again next year and some how end up in top 3 thus again not conveying the pick owed for Nash trade....so if that happens who has priority over the pick in 2017?

I think I read somewhere the picks can turn into 2 first round picks or something. Who cares though. All this talk about draft picks is making us in to the Clippers. Lets get back into winning and playoffs and championships again.

Still owe Philly a pick that's now only top 3 protected in the next couple years. Then there's a 1st rounder from the Dwight trade that's due in 2018 that's top 5 protected but turns to a couple 2nd rounders if the Lakers are even worse the next couple years and pick in the top 3. I'd imagine Philly getting the 1st coming to them next year.

Realgm has a great resource with all the details
http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/draft/ ... s/detailed

2016 first round draft pick to Philadelphia
L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Philadelphia (via Phoenix) protected for selections 1-3 in 2016 and 1-3 in 2017 and unprotected in 2018 [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012; Milwaukee-Philadelphia-Phoenix, 2/19/2015]

2018 first round draft pick to Orlando
If at least two years after the L.A. Lakers conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia, then the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick to Orlando protected for selections 1-5 in 2018 and unprotected in 2019; if the L.A. Lakers have not conveyed a 1st round pick to Philadelphia by 2017, then the L.A. Lakers will instead convey their 2017 2nd round pick and 2018 2nd round pick to Orlando [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012; L.A. Lakers-Orlando, 8/10/2012; Milwaukee-Philadelphia-Phoenix, 2/19/2015]

We'll give our 2016 pick to Philadelphia and our 2018 1st round pick to Orlando. That's the most likely scenario.

Philadelphia gets first prioirty. Until that "debt" is resolved, Orlando won't receive a 1st round pick. And if Philadelphia doesn't receive their 1st round pick by 2018, they'll get a pair of 2nd round picks one in 2018 and one in 2019.

As much as I love your faith, I'm not sure the Lakers are going to make that jump this year unless Kobe finds the fountain of youth and/or the youngsters take massive steps forward. I've got no doubts that the Lakers should be better, but I'm not sure they're a playoff team next year. My guess is something similar to what Utah did this year. Started off weak, but finish extremely strong.

lets wait for FA before we determine our future. Obviously neither Randle or Ok4 is gona take us to another lvl, if we sign that right FA it can make a world of difference. I know this is totally different scenario but lets go back to 08 when we had all the turmoil with Kobe demanding a trade and we started season off in 1st place for a minute and ended up getting Pau and well we know the rest. So while this isn't that young Kobe anymore, that FA we can get can make a world of difference.
