Mini Mamba shares Kobe stories

“One of the weirdest things I experienced when playing with Kobe was how he cursed me the hell out in practice and games when I didn’t bring it,” Goudelock said. “Kobe would look straight at me and be like, ‘What the hell are you doing? I can tell you’re not f***ing serious. I could see it in your eyes. I know the difference.’ And that wasn’t his worst.”

“Every time Kobe did that, I mean I couldn’t [respond]… I was so surprised I was like, ‘You’re right.’ He’s the ultimate workaholic and knows how to get his teammates in game mode.”

“Kobe gave me the ‘Mini Mamba’ nickname and would encourage me to perform with confidence, almost to the point where I was cocky about my game,” Goudelock said. “He could tell I had a passion for the game, it was almost an unspoken understanding. Sometimes players didn’t take certain shots during a game and Kobe would turn to me like, ‘Only you and I would have taken that shot.'”

“Kobe took the Lakers during preseason to the MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas and bought the whole top floor for the team,” Goudelock recalled. “He met us there with his helicopter and was spending all kinds of money on us and let us ball out for the night.”

But oh Kobe is a bad teammate...

I liked AG, wouldn't mind if we actually brought him in for a workout. Hell he had some good shooting games for us.

Goudelock is still a baller ....NBA talent for sure , just didn't get an opportunity

Made a name for himself in Europe tho, plays for a big squad there and is one of their top players

Like I said on the general board. A guy who actually played with Kobe gets dismissed as lying or being nice, but good ol Dudley well he knows it all because we'll he's a journeyman and he's in the union.

Don't care, too long, didn't read.

Kobe is a bad teammate, nothing to see here.

anyway, i love Goudelock when he was here and really disappointed when the Lakers choose Ebanks and Morris over him. I mean he has unlimited range, and our most reliable bench scorer at that time.

i think Jabari Brown is the same kind, and probably slighty better, tho i don't know yet if Jabari has swagger like Goudelock.

Goudelock is a gamer. If Shelvin Mack can play in this league, I'm not sure why AG couldn't.

We should have called him up 2 years ago when we were bleeding point guards with MDA.

You got that right. I saw darn near every Hawks game this year, and I'm not sure that there's a point guard in the league who's worse when it comes to doing anything off the dribble. Unless he spots up and shoots, or swings the ball on the perimeter, Shelvin's gonna turn it over.

Oh, and I'd love to see Goudelock back with the Lakers. He's my favorite Laker ever.

Damn I didn't realize he was tearing it up in Europe. Maybe he can make a small comeback like Farmar did.

I never understood and still don't understand how he never got another legit shot in the NBA.

I remember rejecting all trade offers involving Mini Mamba because I was so enamored with him  . Never understood why we kept freaking Morris over him, he was so much better than him and one of the most reliable scorers we had.

Oh yeah, Goldilocks, I kinda forgot about him. He was pretty good last year (last last year?). That is weird he's not on an NBA roster...

Blasphemous really. He wasn't a Nick Young who was hot and cold, he delivers night in and night out when given minutes, but MB just REFUSES to play him. It was so frustrating to watch. The fact that we kept a total scrub in Darius Morris instead of G-Lock is crazy.

Tearing it up in Europe is putting it lightly...this dude carved himself a pat from a rather small team to Fenerbahce, one of the powerhouses in Europe, scoring the heck out of the ball every way

I mean, he's scored at around 15 ppg on 30 mpg in the Euroleague....and everybody knows getting big stats in Europe is a rarity, especially on a stacked team

Over 50% from the field, 46% 3P shooting.....baller

I liked Goudelock, he has a killer offense, but the reason he's not longer in NBA is that he was terrible on the defensive end. He was too short to defend shooting guards, and too slow to keep up with faster playmakers. In Europe it's easier to hide defensive weaknesses of individual player. The court is smaller, there is less one on one and teams playing much complex team defense – no defensive three seconds violation helps that.

Well he is just released from Fenerbahçe, maybe we will go after him. He would be a great backup scorer.

if we have a scrub like Robert Sacre, surely we have time for Goudelock who actually has some talent
