On Thursday, head coach Byron Scott eluded to Bryant likely shifting over to small forward, according to Mike Bresnahan of the L.A. Times.
It seems as though rookie D’Angelo Russell will be the starting point guard right out of the gate for the Lakers next season alongside starting shooting guard Jordan Clarkson. Although there’s no telling how this dynamic will work out with all three of the team’s best guards on the floor at the same time, it is an exciting prospect to say the least.
Along with Clarkson, Russell and Bryant, second-year forward Julius Randle will likely get the start at power forward. Randle has received high praise throughout the off-season for the work his put in to improve his game. Clarkson and Russell have also praised Randle for his play during scrimmages in preparation for the NBA Summer League.
As for the center position, Roy Hibbert will likely get the nod if the trade with the Indiana Pacers goes through as anticipated. Tarik Black and Robert Sacre will be the primary backups behind Hibbert.

at this point of his career, Kobe would be best playing off ball..im predicting a higher fg% this coming season just him feasting on the mid range J ala Hamilton/Ray

its not goona happen but i hope kobe lets the youngins run the offense for quick scoring and he can take the shots off ball or mis matches in the post or late in the shot clock...for at least til all star time. kobes been quiet as of late. whats the medical report on him and is he cleared to play yet?

He's spent the first summer in 3 years cleared to train his legs ... And he has full range of motion in his shoulder. Mitch did a conference call today

Been saying for 4 years already that Kobe should be at the 3, it's less wear and tear from that position at this point in his career. He'll still see the same shots if he let's JC and D-Lo set him up.

We can use these line for the past 2 years on kobe getting burned by an opponent.
1. kd/bron/wade/melo (insert any scrub) scored on kobe...well they should hes old why wouldnt anyone?
2. kobe just d up/blocked (insert elite player) ... so and so just got shut down by a 37 year old that cant play D
3. kobe just crossed over wiggins and hes old as hell.
you cant lose these arguements lol

I like the idea, plus I think Russell is capable of starting right now and I think we can all agree Clarkson is capable.

Yeah, I'm being that guy. Eludes means Kobe was chasing Scott, but Scott got away.
Douchbaggery aside, that's pretty clearly what needs to happen, and should have last year at the very least. Hopefully it works out. Usually adds a few years to players careers too, moving a position up the scale. He's really pretty average size for the spot, so that shouldn't be a worry.

Oh what does this even mean? There will be line up changes throughout the season I'm guessing. But kobe playing SF is smart. Clarkson, Russell are good shooters so if teams double kobe in the post they will pay for it.

At this point Kobe should be trying to fit in with the youngins not the other way around. He has had his time where the team had to fit around his game, now its his turn to fit his game next to Russell, Clarkson and Randle. I'm eager to see if Kobe is matured enough to see this and adjust.

I'm still on the boat where Kobe will be starting SG if healthy. Only way I'll believe if Kobe accepts the SF role is when he's on record or tweeting he'll play SF.

I hope Kobe takes a step back to let Russell handle the ball and let the team pass and run more rather than park his ass in the post and ask for the ball every time down the floor. For once it'd be nice to see him make it easier for himself when there is talent to work with.

This is going to be a fun team to watch... I wouldn't be stuck on labels... We will start a PG & two wings (Kobe & Clarkson)... Randle plays PF & a center... I have watched all the practice video I can find and our boys look good... Upshaw is out of shape but Brown looks solid too... It is going to be a fun teR ladies...
