OT: Hoping to make it to LA for The Last Season

Hey guys,
I'm looking to visit LA from TO this Fall, in hopes of catching Kobe play one last time (saw him at GSW during the beginning of the season).
Few questions:
- what's a good place to stay at in the LA area?
- any way to get around the city without a car?
- looking to buy the best possible tickets I can, any idea when they're on sale?
- I'm assuming Kobe will be ready for the home-opener right...?
Thanks guys!

I stayed at the Ramada on W.Olympic drive.
It's like a five minute walk and they have a sports bar attached to the hotel.
I used the app LYFT to get around unless it was in skateboard range.
Hope that helps

If you stay in downtown, most hotels are in walking distance, if you want to stay outside of downtown, I''d suggest Culver City or Hollywood, because you can still get to the staples center by the metro train. All three of these areas are pretty nice, with good restaurants. Without a car your best bets are the metro or UBER.

I imagine StubHub would be cheaper than Ticketmaster, would it not?
And I'll be going to LA as well in November for the Raptors game. Let's get to the real talk.. I'm a recently single guy (thank god) in my mid 20's who wants to party somewhere around the Staples Center/Downtown -- Ideas? Suggestions?

I don't think there's much of a partying downtown, you'd probably be doing yourselves a disservice by not going to the west hollywood area if you wanted a good club scene.

Got tickets myself to the Raptors game in Nov. Very excited. Its been a couple years since I've been excited to see a game. Cant wait to see the new kids.
Lot's to do in downtown. Get a hotel there...and there are a bunch of places to party. Lots of food, and everything. You can walk everywhere. DONT walk too far......it's get real bad, really quick. But if you stick to the core of the downtown area, you should be fine. Some great places in china-town to eat. Yang-Chow is an awesome place. Get the slippery-shrimp. So good. It looks a little ghetto, but go in...they are huge Laker fans. Alot of the old Showtime Lakers used to go there alot.
Not a club guy...cant help there. But I have been dragged to a couple clubs in downtown...so I know they exist

If you want to keep it close to Staples, check out the Conga Room. It's hit and miss depending on the theme/music, but it can be a proper meat market on the right night.

Hm, interesting, how's the transportation and getting to West Hollywood from Downtown?

Uber brother, I use it all the time here in Houston. Get on their website or download the app and it will give you a price estimate. If you're drinking that's the safest way anyways.

I have a feeling Kobe will play in China. He will want statues of himself all over Asia. He can come to me then.

2 years ago I would have said you have to rent a car.
but now, forget that, use the UBER or LYFT apps.

The Cheapest possible way, is to go to the local ticket brokers around staples centers as the game is starting and calmly ask for single ticket, as if you don't even care about going to the game.
Or just buy on stubhub for convenience.

I assume so
There are TONS of stuff to do Downtown now, it's booming.
The Exchange is a club that's pretty good, you can pre buy tickets.
There's the ACE hotel which is a hot spot.
Honestly, Once you get here, Just go on Yelp and look at what's good.
Thanks guys!

Hey guys
Any thoughts on what I should do here?
I will be at the Mavs game on Sun Nov 1st, so that wraps up around 9:30 and then my flight is at 11AM.
I packed very light for this trip, so my goal would be to roam around downtown LA on Sunday and then head to LAX and crash for my early morning flight. Basically saving a good $100 on my hotel. Given how busy LAX will be Monday morning with the business crowd, I will probably have to wake up super early either way so I would rather just crash at LAX for the night. I'll sleep on the 5 hour flight.
But the thing is, according to Staples Center Policy I cannot bring in my 2 bags based on size requirements. Ugh. Any recommendations to work around this? Are there public storage lockers anywhere in DTLA. My goal is to avoid crashing anywhere other than LAX since it will be very busy on Monday morning.

I'm a born and raised in Socal guy so I can maybe answer some questions for you.. Westside is the best for planting your roots during your stay or up in Pasadena area then commute to Staples for the game... Staples Center is a great arena and there's LA Live and some high dollar hotels in the area but... big BUT, the rest of the area around Staples is a bit on the rundown down side.. It's getting better but still has a was to go from being an area you'd want to plop down in for a few days as a base of operations.. in and out one day type of quick and dirty trip stay in or around Staples but for a few days find another area
Bit confused on how long you're here for so hard to offer up too much

I would try stubhub. I'm also going to the Raptors game and that's the cheapest I've seen. Tickets range big time in prices but if you want to spend $150, you can get some pretty good seats.

And I'll most likely be renting a car. I'm so pumped for this trip it's not even funny.
