Will the LakeShow give peace a chance?
Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Lakers are seriously considering signing free agent Metta World Peace, league sources tell Yahoo Sports. For now, there's no deal in place.
I am all for it, I was thinking a few months ago that what we need from him at this point he is able to give and he likely wont take too much time away from the rooks. He also has formed some sort of bond with Randle.

Hopefully we are gonna use the veterans minimum so we can still add someone with the room exception

I would love me some Metta. Loved that guy on the team. Except for the last year.

Coincidence that MWP worked out with Randle and he's getting signed. Looks like Ryan Hollins is the next guy that gets signed since he worked out with the players.

Benefits of Metta
- he practiced with the team in summer league
- he helped Randles rehab
- he knows Kobe and isn't afraid of him
- he isn't afraid of any big shot, moment, or anyone else
- he is a champion
- he knows more about defense than Scott could ever teach or point out
- fans in Naples and the city love him
- Kobe having him as a backup means Nick backs up Clarkson and you never see Sacre/Kelly in the 10 man rotation
He's a perfect add and balances a roster out
Russell/Lou
Clarkson/Nick
Kobe/Metta
Bass/Randle
Hibbert/Tarik
That's a ten man rotation that can compete every night and in vast contrast to a Wes he won't space out every other play. In contrast to Kelly he can actually hit the fn rim when he shoots. In contrast to Sacre, when he's on the box be it on o or d he can actually matter with his strength.
Go for it.

This move is to give randle a practice player more than anything imo.

It would also give Kobe a backup and allow the back court to not be overwhelmed if Nick slides to the SG spot.
Also means we will finally use common sense and use the Dfenders right. Let Nance and Brown develop down there for a full year

I also love this move. Mehta is probably one of the few guys that can match randles speed and strength

Wouldn't be the worst way to round out a roster, but I'm afraid Byron would give him too many minutes. I was thinking something like a development coach or special assistant, etc...

I wonder if we are using the room exception.

Scott plays 10 at a time ...
Last year it was a rotation of Price/Lin Kobe/Wayne Wes/Nick Booz/Ed Hill/Sacre and later became Kelly and Clarkson in the rotation when Kobe went out full time and price got hurt.
I mean I rather see Metta in there doing a thing than Sacre causing a 10 point swing (the game in Dallas) in less than a minute or Kelly shooting in the 30's and 20's while being matched up vs LeBron by Byron's choice (happened on TNT) and not grabbing a rebound.
Nance and A.Brown aren't playing ... Mitch has said multiple times he's not sold on Jabari ... right now Metta makes sense, he's still liable to be more consistent than Wes was, and it's not like Matt Barnes or Mike Miller have been released

I would be more interested in hiring him as a defensive assistant or something along those lines.

IMO he wont be expected to play more than 10-12 mins per game and some have mentioned really be there to mentor and beat up JuJu. I like it and besides LA loves some Metta

I highly doubt this is our last move of the off season.. Still need to get a back up PG and C... and Sacre/Kelly need to get moved...
