ESPN sources say two-time MVP Steve Nash finalizing agreement with Golden State to join Warriors as part-time player development consultant
Thats a pretty nice "nose thumbing" to the Lakers?

Not that i have seen, and for some reason i bet we failed to do so even though the guy intimated he was interested in being around to assist....With our young back court its in our best interest to grab specialized coaches for individual workouts with our guards, however its not the end of the world but i would have thought with how things turned out with Nash both sides would be eager and willing to have him hang around and at least carry some damn water bottles.

Not sure why people would get annoyed by this... The Lakers have the luxury of telling Magic to work with Clarkson/Russell and also have Shaq work with Hibbert since it looks like Shaq is now fond of the Lakers... Let's be realistic... Nash screwed the Lakers and shouldn't be anywhere near the Lakers...
What I'm really hoping is the Lakers calling Gary Payton to work with the PGs he's a better consultant to teach the guys then Nash and he' would be better at teaching Russell and Clarkson elite defense as opposed to Nash who probably never played defense in his NBA career.

That sucks, thought for sure he would be hired in a similar role for us.

Nash, who was not planning to go into coaching after formally announcing his retirement in March, has been lobbied aggressively by Warriors coach Steve Kerr and team president Rick Welts to spend a few days per month with the team to work on skills with individual players.
Kerr, Welts and current Warriors player development coach Bruce Fraser -- all of whom worked closely with the 41-year-old Nash when he was playing in Phoenix -- are among Nash's closest friends in the league and ultimately persuaded him to consider joining the NBA reigning champions as a part-timer.
late June -- when Nash played in longtime teammate Dirk Nowitzki's annual charity baseball game -- the Dallas Mavericks were still hoping to lobby Nash to consider unretiring and reuniting with Nowitzki as a spot-duty point guard for the coming season. ESPN.com reported in March that the Cleveland Cavaliers -- at the behest of Cavs general manager David Griffin and former Cavs exec Raja Bell, also former Nash colleagues in Phoenix -- likewise tried last season to persuade Nash to push for a buyout from the Lakers that would allow him to team up with LeBron James in Cleveland as a third point guard.

All I gotta say is dont let the door hit you on the way out Nash.. You took the time to write your apologies on behalf of screwing the Lakers but in the end you are just another prick who should have never weared the Lakers uniform. and I'm not about to give credit to you working with Clarkson you probably worked with him in spite of doing something positive with the Lakers cause of how much negative influence you had on the Lakers team.
Let's hope the Lakers call up Gary Payton I bet he would turn Russell into a elite defender.

Yeah it was his fault a player collided with him and cracked a bone in his knee, and couldn't recover from it. A lot of high IQ posts lately.

I am more disappointed because of the results he got with Clarkson. It's not like expected him to want to be here and constantly reminded of how he failed this organization.
Also I don't know that the glove is a viable coach and I know magic isn't. Scott actually had measurable success with guards in the past. Who has Gary mentored?

No. That incident happened because he didn't take the time to work on his body. That injury did not screw up his knee as much as his predictable back spasms... I'm not about to speculate on if he stayed healthy it was obvious that he came to the Lakers on his last legs and was trying to coat tail his way to a free championship anyone who is upset about this truly doesn't know the situation.. Nash and Howard both will go down as sole losers that weared a Lakers uniform.

You know the Lakers, like, traded for him right...
I'm not going to even take time to make a counter argument to this trash. The trade for Nash didn't work out, but if there's one thing I know it's not because Nash didn't put in the time or effort as he's been a consummate professional his entire career.

He was great with Clarkson and I was really hoping he would workout with Russell too. Why doesn't Magic's name ever come up with regards to mentoring our young guards?

Honestly this the biggest let down for me, Russell's ideal mentor should have been Nash, great shooter who could pick his spots. Crafty in the Lane, doesn't have top level speed but has great vision and court awareness.

Fans continuously blame Nash for 2012 and his injuries yet get mad when he leaves? His contract with us is over, he's not obligated to do anything for us. Even if we offered him a possible position as a coach, you can't blame the man for choosing to go to a place where he's actually wanted.
