Official Media Day/Training Camp MEGATHREAD

Lots of tweets, touts, vines, videos, etc...so I'll be putting spoiler tags so it doesn't get too laggy in this thread. Each day will have its own separate post so check back often to see new updates! I'll try to organize it as best as possible. A few tidbits that stood out to me from media day:

-Russell apparently had some ankle/leg issues that affected him during summer league, but he wanted to play so he didn't disclose it until later
-James Worthy was officially hired to take on a role as a special assistant, but he'll still be doing TWC as well.
-Tracy Murray has been hired as a shooting coach

it's been a long long time since I had the chance to just simply come home and watch a Lakers game. today I came home and media day is on! it's gonna be a good season! Go Lakers

Looking at Metta World Peaces body language I believe he can score 10-12PPGif he gets enough consistent minutes and that's vital for the thin SF position... Does everyone else feel the same way?

I enjoyed seeing some of this, and although a Kings fan I can recognize the league is IMO more healthy when the prominent markets with good fanbases are doing well. There is just something wrong with the Staples as morose as its been for Laker fans during these last couple of years. There is something wrong when I go through LAX on my way to Latin America and I see Clips stuff in the shops first. The team should be competitive this year, with visible building blocks and that is the first step. And since the LAkers are still going on TV the national ratings can be more viable

Best of look to a solid fanbase, and the Lakers still have one. When I attend games at Sleep Train (Arco), aside from Warrior fans the Lakers are still really the only team that has a visible presence in the crowd. Aside from the Cousins stuff though, as there is nothing that can come out of that for both teams and hopefully Cuz retires here!

Thanks for the support. And believe it or not I had been accustomed to really disliking the Clippers there recent success has infused a lot of these So-called clipper fans coming out of no where and there crap product becoming more popular cause the clipper fans now .. Probably became clipper fans recently

I also hope the Kings blow out the Clippers in there season home opener that would be a good revenue to start things off.

Here's the itinerary for the trip leading up to the first preseason game:

While Monday may be a glitzy show for the cameras and the audio recorders, Tuesday offers a wholly different atmosphere in a totally different time zone. The Lakers hold the first practice of their training camp on Tuesday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. Wednesday and Thursday offer two grueling practices per day, as Lakers coach Byron Scott will condition the team with running drills designed to build stamina. Friday offers only a single session, but Saturday gives the Lakers another double day of practice.

Most interesting thing I learned watching Media Day coverage:

Byron told TWCSN that D'Angelo had knee and ankle problems in Summer League that he didn't tell anyone about because he wanted to play so badly. Apparently Byron's seen much more explosiveness and quickness from Russell in the last few weeks.

Hiding your injuries just for the sake of playing... I see it as being selfish and not being a warrior. Hey, if you can't play right because of injuries, let others do the work. Unless your name and game's similar to Kobe Bryant that is.

Have to give him a pass for that because:
1. It was just summer league - Don't care who else plays, we just want to see our draft picks. Unless we wanted to see Dwight Buycks play a lot, which I personally don't.
2. It was just summer league - and being the number 2 pick of the recent draft, your status in Summer League is similar to Kobe Bryant's status during an NBA season.
3. Chalk it up as immaturity. Kid wants to play and prove he deserves his draft position. At least he didn't aggravate whatever injury he had and he learned that he has much much more to learn if he wants to be a great NBA player.

I can hardly fault him for wanting to get out on the court for his first "nba" game. It's just summer league and I'm sure the physical trainers have everything under control.
