Who would you rather have ?

Hypothetical

Who would you rather have to build a team around?

Simmions?
Or Russell/Randle/clarkson?

Simmions seems like the kind of player that you would want to build a team around, and really find the pieces that fit him

Russell has athletic limitations, while Randle has an ISO specific game (making it very hard to build around Randle)

Who would you rather build around?

Why does it have to be either/or? The two scenarios are we can have both or we can have Russell/Randle/Clarkson and next year's pick.

I guess it all depends on whether or not Simmons will be playing any D at the NBA level. Then again i'd much rather build around the three players we already have + our pick assuming we keep it.

I'd laugh if we get Simmons. I'd say all four

I'm not falling for the hype of Simmons, plenty of players have gotten that "Lebron" comparison just like the "next kobe" (Oj Mayo). Simmons looks more like a potential next Grant Hill then the next Lebron. He's going to severely be limited offensively if he doesn't fix his shooting issue, just like Randle isn't able to always be successful with his bully ball.

I'd still take a Potential Next Grant Hill any day. Hill was Sick as. I don't know anything about the draft, just going by what everyone is saying. But after seeing "Box score" of simmons getting what - 40+ points 8+reb 8+ast etc must be pretty good. Like I said I know nothing about the draft lol

of course, wasn't implying I didn't want him if we got #1, just saying in accordance to this OP which is making it seem as though Simmons can be that Lebron guy that a team would only need him and the rest will be taken care off.

If you have Simmons, you could build around Simmons, Clarkson, Russell, and Randle.

Start Russell and Clarkson at the 1 and 2. Find a 3 and D SF and play Simmons at the 4. Due to his high motor you can bring Randle off the bench as a 6th man. Theres a number of things you can do to make it work. If anything Randle could be the odd man out and he's the one who gets moved if you draft Simmons.

I've been watching just about every LSU and Duke game this season. I like Simmons but I think he's come down to earth a little bit since his hot start and Ingram has picked up his play. This to me feels like it could be one of those situations that we had in the draft last season. Jahlil was number 1 all season lost and some time before the start of the NCAA tournament, KAT's name is being thrown in at number 1.

And by the way if you end up with Ingram instead of Simmons then it is nothing to be mad about. Both guys are going to be good. Ingram actually fits better with Russell, Clarkson, and Randle.

If the question was, if the Lakers fell out of the top 3 and lost the pick, should the Lakers trade Russell, Clarkson and Randle for the 1st pick. Then, yes. Rather build with Simmons.

If the question was, if the Lakers landed the 2nd or 3rd pick, should the Lakers trade Russell, Clarkson, Randle plus the pick for the 1st pick. Then, no.

Lottery picks are always a roll of the dice, just like every other draft pick. You're essentially saying would you rather have a 2nd, 7th, 46th(Clarkson) or the first pick. Over the past 20 years, there have been like 5-6 franchise players taken first. That's like a 25% success rate. If you're a team that already has talent (don't know how you could get the 1st), I think you want one high pick. If you're a talent-less team like the current Lakers, I think you want three picks.

So i'd take the field.

cmon its easy, id rather have our young trio than one simmons. but the crazy thing is you could have all of them play together if all things turned out well for us. but id rather have ingram at this point, much better fit than simmons out of the gate

You'd like to keep BS because he runs an offence where IF you had two very specific players you "THINK" it might work? But by "work" I think you mean the team wouldn't suck. I "THINK" if it does work (which there are no guarantees) at best that's a very average team. At best! But BS would have to perform out of his mind.

Sorry to say bud but I think you might've lost your mind. AND you'd trade all three young players for picks lol... Just have a seat bud paramedics on their way. You're gonna be fine... lol I think.

You do anything you can to get Simmon,s a true franchise changer. Did anyone catch the Vanderbilt game today. Ben posted video game stats of 36 points, 14 rebs an 4 assists. He single handedly propelled LSU to victory. He is that good. His defense in the game was outstanding. No way you pass up a talent like that. Those worried about his outside game, his shot isn't broken. Look at his excellent form and percentages from the free throw line. His outside shot will come.

Once Simmons actually has some teammates that can make a shot, imagine the assists ...
