Ryan West and his Impact on the Lakers

Post#1 » by FrozenIceCubes » Sat Jan 2, 2016 5:46 pm

No one seems to know who he is, or what his role is.. But the LA Times and others have stated .. Multiple times that he does a lot of scouting and was the big mover in getting Clarkson on draft night.. I also remember hearing that he was impressed with Nance which means he's was a big part of the Lakers picking him at 27th. his involvement with the Lakers is a very positive movement... He's learned a lot from great minds and I think he has the potential to be a really good GM 1 day.

I have heard positive things about him. If I remember correctly, I think I saw him on an episode of Backstage Lakers and on that episode he was going over some tapes of Nance and was impressed with his size and skill on the court. I also remember reading somewhere about his influence to draft Clarkson. Hopefully in the future he is given more decision making responsibilities.

other than the part that everyone knows that he's the son of jerry west, started as a scout with the lakers several yrs ago, started with the grizz before that, and was promoted to director of player personnel which came with several profile pieces written up about him, yeah, no idea who who he is.

Jim, you can retire "with peace and honor". You have a great replacement for yourself in Mitch, and there's now one for him in Ryan West. Jeannie?

I think she can't wait for Jim to be done so she can get her hands dirty, set her dad's franchise's legacy back on the right path again—contending, nothing else. She wears the pants, not Jim.

Clarkson and Nance were Ryan West moves? impressive... both look like steals in their respective drafts...
