Lakers rookie Larry Nance Jr. won't play until after the All-Star break because of a sore knee.

Hopefully general soreness and nothing serious there. This probably means more PT for fan favorite Ryan ManBun Kelly though.

Yeah he didn't look right when he came back. I think it's good that they're shutting him down for the break. A shame, as he's been a nice story this year.

Essentially taking him off the trade table... ASB ends on the 14th, the deadline is the 18th... My guess is he gets cleared after the 18th.

Looks like Byron and Vitti are looking into shutting him down for the season.

The normally affable Nance said the injury was "obviously frustrating," the constant discomfort curbing a once-promising rookie season.

The Lakers, and Nance, are reluctant to go beyond calling it a "sore knee."

"We know what it is but it's a long-winded answer," Nance said. "It's something that at the beginning of the year next year, it'll be in the rear-view mirror."

Nance, who missed time last October because of knee tendinitis, said he would "absolutely not" need surgery after this season and would rely instead on strengthening the area to prevent further pain.

Whatever the cause, it's troubling for the Lakers because they already shut down Nance for three weeks. He resumed play last Friday against San Antonio and made it through a little more than 21/2 games before being unable to go any longer.

"Gary and I just talked about it," Scott said after Monday's loss. "I told him what I think and he told me what he thinks. That's what he does [for a living], so I'm going to go by what he thinks right now. We're going to just do the treatment and see what happens on Wednesday."

It really depends. If it's a chance that it could turn into something else if he keeps playing, you obviously sit him until he can get it fixed in the off-season.

If there's no concern about that, let him play.

Honestly just shut him down so he doesn't end up with a major injury and bring in the tank reinforcements. We already know what he can do and he should already have a good idea what he needs to work on in the summer (along with strength/conditioning).

Shut him down for the year. Start Kelly, play him 30 minutes per. Get Simmons.

I do not want to watch Kelly for 30+, not even for Simmons. But I do agree with shutting down Larry.

I think he needs to rest it too... He looks like crap out there anyway. Play Kelly Wambach... Maybe somebody will want him next season... Maybe we'll pick up more barbers as fans.

In a season like this I would shut him down. It would suck if he got hurt playing at this point in the season.

Just shut him down, let him rest to be ready in the off-season to make preparations. Let Tarik Black get his minutes. Of course if I am Byron, I will let Ryan Kelly fill his void. Lol.
