Marcus Smart looks good...

Post#1 » by aaron_gray » Wed Apr 27, 2016 1:58 am

Just caught the first half of the Celtics/Hawks game, so this is a miniature sample size, but Smart looks good out there and I don't mean that talent wise. He's just making smart, selfless plays. He's made great passes down low to teammates (some of whom proceeded to miss open layups), he's cleared drive lanes by backing into the defender, he's used misdirection to get a half-step head start against his defender on a drive, all the little things seem to be there. Also worth noting is that Jonas Jerebko appears to have transformed into a mobile shot blocker that can shoot threes. The Celtics are busting their collective asses on defensive rotations and they're making smart decisions on defense (leaving poorer shooters open to stick with Korver, etc.)

Meanwhile, Bazemore rains 3s for their opponent.

It makes you wonder how much was left on the table these past couple of years in terms of player development. I know statistically speaking, Smart's season was far from great, or good, or even average really but watching players with seemingly less talent develop new skills and utilize veteran tricks can be rather frustrating.

No offense, but this may be the single biggest over-reaction to a snippet of a single performance ever.

Another sequence worth mentioning: Korver shakes Jae Crowder and drills the open 3. Camera pans to Crowder who appears to be upset. The very next play, Evan Turner turns it over and Korver has an open layup with Crowder in pursuit. I honestly thought Crowder was going to tackle Korver or something, but he just let him have the transition basket.

He is a fat PG, i dont understand why Lakers fans think he is the next Wade before the draft.4

and he is still a fat PG. never trust a fat PG.

He has the worst FG percentage in the league i believe (3)

I've talked to Celtic fans about him. He might not be a scorer or a shooter, but he makes all the right choices and helps the team in anyway.

So basically he's a Larry Nance Jr.

Still can't handle Randle
2014: Randle / Clarkson
2015: Russell / Nance
2016: Ingram / Zubac
2017: Top 3 Pick? Fultz, Ball or Bust

That's a huge disservice to Nance Jr... Nance is a relatively efficient scorer along with being an all around solid presence on the floor.

Not sure who that would equate to on the Lakers.

I really like him...
Tenacious defender... Can literally defend nearly every position on the floor.

His 3 point shot has started to come around as well.
USA Celtics in full effect. Amazing chemistry building experience right there for the main core of the team

Proceeds to finish 7th and shames the entire nation!

Rodney hood looks better than anyone taken before him in that draft and it still pains me how far he dropped and fell right into Utah's lap.
