Alvin Gentry has a head coaching job.

not sure how I feel about it but B Shaw might be just that right mix of veteran skill that Luke will need behind him
Monty Williams would be great but he has a job plus his personal life is more than enough of a challenge for him right now.

You guys can forget about pulling known names off other teams....that ain't happening. Luke's lead assistant will be a guy who was either a head long time ago or he goes with a staff that's just as young as him. If Houston doesn't hire JB Bickerstaff than I could see Luke asking him if he would like to be his lead assistant.

I would definitely like to see Brian Shaw over here. Paul George credits Brian Shaw for really helping him with his development. He was also pretty vocal when Shaw was fired by the Nuggets. I think he would do a good job with the development of our young guys.
Paul George credits Indiana Pacers assistant coach Brian Shaw for helping him become an All-Star in just his third year season.
"He's really helped me out," George said of Shaw. "He's the one that gets on me. If I'm not playing well, if things aren't going right, and he knows I'm the reason for it, he'll let me hear about it."
"He doesn't hold back on anything, and I mean anything," George said. "I like that. It's good to hear that. We do most of our talking while we're on the court or after practice. He'll also sit (with) me and we'll go over film."

Brian Shaw ended up burning bridges when he interviewed and got rejected for the Lakers job after Phil, so I don't think he's a candidate.
I'd think Jarron Collins, who is close to Luke will move from Golden State if he is not made the lead assistant to Kerr. We'll also likely retain Mark Madsen. Richard Jefferson, if he retires this year is a good candidate as a player development coach.
I'd love it if Luke can bring Ron Adams from Golden State to run the defense but it'd be interesting to see who he does hire for that job as its a crucial role for this team.

Gary Payton?
He had interest on being an assistant coach a while back. Our guards could definitely learn a thing or two about defense from him.

I would love for Luke to bring in Sean Miller of UA, but he could probably land a head coaching gig, and we wouldn't be able to match his current salary.

JB Bickerstaff would be an interesting option indeed. He had a damn hard job in Hou but he seems solid for one of the asst spots
Jarron Collins likely would come if Luke asks I think.
We def need a good defensive asst to help as ive read ron adams is largely responsible for that gsw defense so we'll need a strong asst

Frank Vogel will find a head coaching job in no time.

Like i said - its nearly impossible (same situation with Joerger).
In my opinion Fran is not the best HC, but if some team hire him as assistant he would be excellent, maybe even like Thibs in Celtics.

The only problem with Fish is making sure he doesn't try to steamroll Luke into a HC job. I think he might actually make a good Assistant if he can accept the role and be happy...
Man, I still can't believe little Luke Walton is our new coach... The mind boggles...

But what he said was true, Jim went above and beyond to remove anyone associated with Phil. So if Jim is gonna be butt ass hurt about that then he's going to keep this franchise under the mud if he's that sensitive. At some point he has to get over the personal BS and make the right basketball decisions for this team. Shaw would be an excellent choice to be lead assistant.

None of this is happening, the Warriors aren't going to let Luke poach thieir team.Collins and Adams are staying put. Now if Indy let's go of Vogel then Nate McMillan would be excellent for the defense.

John Ireland said today on Mason & Ireland that he believes Brian Shaw could be a candidate and him and MoMo kicked around the idea of Collins because they're close from Golden State and Collins lives in Brentwood so he would be able to move home to family. However, Ireland noted that Collins is very loyal to Kerr, he will most likely become the lead assistant up there and Luke is also still really loyal to Kerr so ireland doesn't believe Luke will try to pry anybody away from him.
Luke will most likely have to formulate his own staff as someone mentioned, the good news is Luke knows errrrbody and everyone in the league likes him so he shouldn't have trouble coming up with 2-3 useful assistants.
