Re: Emplay with Jim Buss
Walton may get help in the draft, perhaps with a forward like Ben Simmons of LSU or Brandon Ingram of Duke.
“Right now, I think our young guys are the perfect number and we will add solid veterans,” said Buss.
Jim makes it sound like he wants to trade the pick.

Exactly my thoughts, he clearly likes enough of his plyrs to want no more youth but does leave it open at the end by saying they'll use the draft/fa/trade markets
Sounds like he wanted to bring Bass back too

Re: Emplay with Jim Buss
Jim believes there's 5 core plyrs, Russell, Clarkson, Randle, Nance and Lou
Also likes Bass and Black, whom he thinks can become a rotational plyr

I'd love to bring Bass back as well. I like Black but Bass is a solid backup and and a great veteran presence.

This is how it should have been.
He may have his reasons for putting Lou there, they may not mean all 5 "core" plyrs are kept. It may help in the inevitable trade talks we all know are happening as if may 17th, should we keep our pick.

Yea man Bass would be great indeed. I liked him at C with Randle or Nance at PF, worked well for stretches.

Re: Emplay with Jim Buss
Sounds like Jim has a plan... I don't think he'd be talking about trading the pick unless he had a clear deal in mind.
Either that or he's trying to manage expectations in the event we lose the pick.

That's what i liked too, it seems there's a plan whether we keep the pick or lose it to Philly

I think he's doing it for trade talks as I don't honestly think Jim sees Lou as part of that core for the long term

I''d rather see the Lakers keep the pick and trade Clarkson.
A backcourt with Russell and Clarkson both starting isn't winning any championships...

Depending on how the draft and free agency go, I'd like to see us move Lou and bring Clarkson off the bench as a 6th man. I think that is the perfect role for him.

What a dumb tweet by this fail New York fat boy.
Buss clearly means that he is not going to continue adding more youth to the roster who need SEASONS to grow into their potential. I mean, a half-witted Celtics fan can even decipher this.

Re: Emplay with Jim Buss
The only way i would trade a top 2 pick is if one DeMarcus Cousins is coming the other way (or Jimmy Butler or someone of that caliber)
honestly i hope common sense prevails and we draft, wait and see if we get durant and whiteside/horford plus some other pieces. If we do, then yeah sure, trade whoever we draft and try bring in another player that could move the needle (lets say we draft Simmons, Simmons and Clarkson for Westbrook)
Knowing Jimbo we'll probably deal the 2nd for Carmelo Anthony

Re: Emplay with Jim Buss
Jim Buss is right.
Ideally, in an eight-man rotation, you should really only have three "babies".
The rest should be, ideally, veteran leaders who set examples for the the pups to emulate.
People who think you can just keep collecting babies don't get it -- just look at the Magic.
Buss isn't the most articulate, so maybe he could've said it better, but he's right on the money here.
