What teams are in the market for a young guard, who can score and attack the paint. He defense is a liability, and the Lakers need to shoreup that area... Maybe the Bulls.....

Since he is a free agent, it would have to be a sign and trade. So, not only do you need to find a team that wants to trade with you, you need to find one that Clarkson agrees to go to.

To the Bulls for what? He's an RFA as well. Can't be traded unless he wants to play for the team they are trading to. If he doesnt want to sign with the team it's a dead end.

If we do trade Clarkson, it'll be like the timing of Tobias Harris' trade: Mid season

That way you don't worry about Sign and Trades complexities

We're not trading Clarkson...lol Lakers are very happy with his growth as a player.

Maybe OP should recommend his choices for a trade? Instead of tossing out jump balls. But remember whomever your trading partner is he's going to be looking for a player who's a "Liability" on defense

Not trade worthy he'll be allstar either next year or the one after if he stays consistent. Isn't it like 2018 when La is hosting the Allstar event?? I'm predicting by then La will have 4 allstars on their team. Clarkson, Russell, Whiteside, Durant bringing back the glory days.

One can dream can't he?

with our without the #1 or 2 pick? Remember his sign number won't be terribly high so if we're talking alone the salary is likely going to have to match... aka not a star's salary.

Clarkson has zero/negative trade value if he gets overpaid. If we can lock him up on a 2 year deal for 12 mil or a 3 years deal for 24 mil (6/6/12), with ideally a team option on the 3rd year, THEN we can parlay him for something nice.

RFA status either helps or hurts players. Either some team goes stupid and offers the max in hopes of stealing him away from the original team, or they get scared off and the RFA has to resign for peanuts. Unfortunately for JC he's not good enough for the crazy payout yet.

quick point, when you're under the cap salaries don't have to match... seeing how pretty much everyone is going to be under the cap at the start the matching salaries thing won't be coming into play very much

I'd S&T him for a guy like Alec Burks.

Clarkson is not the type of player Utah needs.

They need Mike Conley more than Clarkson.

Also, Burks has more value than Clarkson (unless he has an injury I don't know about).

Everyone needs a Mike Conley but there's only one.

Mike Conley at the max is a HORRIBLE idea. He's a great player but he's not game changing enough to deserve the max he's eligible for (25 mil start?). Several other players fall in the same boat Horford, DHo (his current iteration), Batum, Demar, Beal, Barnes etc.

Beal and Barnes are tricky. Snatch em from their old teams for the max, will they turn into 2nd coming of James Harden or not? If not, youre gonna get burned.

Why would clarkson want to go to Utah. If Im clarkson only way I do s&t I'd to go to the east where there's fewer superstars in the guard position. He can be a heck of a player and not make allstar in west ex. Lillard. Whos in front in the east after dwade retires kyrie is the only star left

The feasible name that maybe falling out of favor in his current team is Jeff Teague. I'm not advocating this since I haven't seen him play too much to form an opinion, but since Schroeder seems to be stealing his starting spot, what do you guys think of a trade for this guy?

i would like Teague to come in and start with Clarkson as 6th man to be honest (if we could actually pull that off)

I'd imagine Teague still has value, something we really don't have (i'd offer the 32nd + Lou for Teague in a heartbeat but i doubt Atlanta goes for that)

True, but Teague's best value was last off season, he had 2 yrs left on his contract and was coming off that great ATL run and 1st time All Star, by this off season it's the last point to get any kind of value because he'll be an expiring contract to the team who acquires him this off season, if he's traded, and will require a big paycheck so one season may not be enough time to judge that decision and he may just leave, as he'd be a UFA if im not mistaken in the 2017 FA Class

We have the most cap space in the NBA this offseason. Stop trying to break up our young core!

especially with trades that don't make the team actually better... just different
