I see a lot of hilariously bad offers from NBA fans trying to force bad trades down the lakers throat while a chorus of laker-haters screams, "That's fair value"

So...im wondering... what would it actually take to move down? Or move the 2nd pick for?


Boston has a hard on for wanting to move up to 2.
What would it take for you to do it?

For me?
Pick 2 for Pick 3, Brooklyns 2018, and Marcus Smart.

The way I see it, the lakers are primed to add a 3rd elite prospect to their starting lineup, with the money to add anyone they want in Free Agency. Lakers are not starved for talent and are not burdened with any bad contracts (even lou and Swag are cheap contracts).

The only trades I am even think about are trades where the lakers are getting paid $1.50-$2.00 on the dollar in value.
3rd pick is 50 cents... smart is 75 cents... Brooklyn 2018 is about 25 cents... That close to the value I would want for pick 2, but not even a slam dunk. Boston would need to start throwning some nickels and dimes our way as well (mid 1sts and 2nds, or future considerations)



What would be offers you would take or strongly have to think about to move down or out of this draft?

PG13.

Add a third team, throw in multiple future picks, cash, anyone or all of Lou, Young, Sacre, Kelly and whatever else to make the deal work.

How realistic it is to get PG13 that way, I don't know. Depends on where he wants to be. I think he does not want to be in Indiana anymore. I'd think being the franchise player of LAL after Kobe must seem quite the attraction to him.

That Smart deal is interesting. That would have to be worth consideration. I'm leaning towards doing it.

Unless you think there is absolutely no drop off between pick 2 and 3 then that deal in the OP is terrible for the Lakers. It just doesn't make sense for the lakers to trade a chance at an elite talent for 3 non elite Talents.

Lakers should be consolidating talent, not watering it down for the sake of depth.

Considering that Simmons and Ingram have a very high probability of elite potential based on physical advantages and skillset, a trade for an elite player would only make sense. Since there is some risk, however, an equitable trade would involve a veteran who is on the lower range of "elite" and or or have injury/attitude risks. I think Paul George, Kyrie Irving fit that description, as does Demarcus Cousins. I'll echo King Latifah, PG13 is probably the only player that makes sense for the second pick. And if I were the Pacers, I'd do that trade too. They're bad. I would take Ingram and build around him and Myles Turner, tank a few years to get better talent around them. At that point, Lebron would be done, and the east would be ripe for the taking. If I were the Pacers, I'd push really hard for a rebuild. Just don't think they have the assets to compete with the Cavs at all anytime soon.

Needs to be a young, established star (think Paul George, Anthony Davis, etc.) on a contract has him locked up for at least the next 2+ years.

Probably only Anthony Davis or Karl Anthony Towns, and I wouldnt even gut my team for AD simply because he's so injury prone.

If the player is over 26, then sorry its not happening. Sorry WB, PG13, KD, Boogie etc.

You'd have to be beyond stupid to make a deal like that. I would consider not following this team any more if they made such a move.

I would only trade the pick for someone like Towns. Meaning, we're not trading the pick.

He is 19 years old center that averaging 17ish ppg in freaking NBA. I can't even think who 19 years old center did that in NBA before him.

he's a nice player but not dealing a top 2 pick in this draft for him. If they offered for Randle i would look to bringing in Okafor though

In a two player draft you don't trade down or out unless you're receiving an elite talent. There's no way we'd get Towns, Davis, Durant, Westbrook or the like for a #2 pick. I wouldn't even trade for Paul George considering that him alone wouldn't get us into the playoffs.

You don't think he'd attract another FA? I do. If we had PG13 right now, I think centers and Vonley would be lining up to join.

You're the same guy that wanted us to take Mario Hezonja as well. No one is underrating Okafor, we just recognize the team doesn't need to give up a valuable pick for a player that does not protect the rim or rebound well at the NBA level. Philly is also under new management and with the amount of losing and Byron that was here the last 2 years, there is nothing more toxic about Philly than there was in LA.
