Re: Peak Andrew Bynum
i really like him back then..
true back to back center and good defensively, unlike Kanter, Al Jeff, Kaman etc.

If only he had only 1/4" of Kobe and Shaq's determination to be great. Lakers would not have shipped him for another loser in dwight.

Re: Peak Andrew Bynum
I think he was plenty determined. Not as determined as Kobe obv as few approach Kobe's desire to win. He just wasn't blessed with the legs to support that mammoth body for a whole NBA career.

Believe it or not. We made a mistake trading him for Dwight. Sorry for the disrespect A-Train.

Re: Peak Andrew Bynum
He's my 3rd favorite Laker ever after Kobe and Lamar Odom. I came to be a serious, die hard fan around 2003 and he was one of the first players I really felt something towards.
I remember when I think it was Kwame who got hurt, and Bynum got a first chance at minutes. It was a road game against Chicago and he scored his first basket off a dunk from Kobe and then on prime time, I believe he had a good post move and finish against Seattle a game or two later. Then the Shaq moment later on. The game where he started the fourth quarter and scored a whole bunch of points in a row against either New York or Philadelphia on the road.
And let's not forget, he was the guy that got Kobe believing this was a Championship team. His improvement that year was huge. I loved the way he forced himself to play in 2009 and 2010 when he wasn't fully healthy and was getting his knee drained every game.
The "off the court" antics were really just playful and fun ones. There was nothing serious, maybe outside of the 3 point attempt against Golden State, to which Kobe perfectly summed up as "Andrew testing the limits of his game."
One of my favorite Lakers ever. Wish he could still play here to be honest.

The way he developed his physique along with his elite low post skills even when dealing with numerous serious injuries....how can anyone be upset about the player he became. Too bad is body couldn't sustain it anymore.
Bynum's development from youngest player ever drafted and first lakers lottery pick since Eddie Jones to all star center was super enjoyable. To me as a fan it showed me I could enjoy the process a lot more than the end result. Kind of why I don't really care about lakers signing free agents, I just want to enjoy watching these young guys flourish.

Re: Peak Andrew Bynum
agreed
developing a core and watching them grow from rookie to vet is the best part
with regards to bynum, can't blame the dude
2 rings, 50 mil, i'd prob cash out right quick too. nothing left to prove and only 20 something.

Re: Peak Andrew Bynum
There are plenty of lifeless stiffs that have played for the Lakers, but I don't consider Andrew one of them. He worked while his body held up and gave the Lakers a lot of value for a 10 pick when he got traded
