2017 cap space

This is a rough estimate:
Deng $18M
Mozgov $16M
Clarkson $12M
Williams $7M
Ingram $6M
Young $5.7M
Russell $5.6M
Randle $4.2M
Nance $1.3M
Brown $1M
Total = $76.8

Assuming the 2017 salary cap is $108M. Lakers would have about $31M cap space for 2017. That's basically enough for one $30M max contract.

Terrible. Mitch lied.

He clearly stated he was going to be smart with money this summer, yet he gives out four year deals to bench players.

Unbelievable. It's time for Ryan West to take over this team.

Take away another $12M. Lakers now have $31M only enough for one max contract.

The offseason not end.
Lakers can trade young and willams.
And can allways trade loul and mozgov next season or next summer.
Russell Westbrook 2017 sign with lakers.

Us Trading Young?.. Now that's funny. He has zero trade value at the moment. We will waive him next week.

Williams? I doubt Lakers get rid of their ONLY scoring threads from the bench.

Trade Mozgov and Deng? May i remind you they both have four year deals... Any GM trading for those contracts should be fired.

some whiny folks in this thread...lol

get over the money guys... Deng and Mosgov are good contracts

In this economy you're not going to get value, everyone is willing to overpay and 80% of the league has a boatload of money to burn up... over 20 teams needed to spend just to reach the salary floor so it's either pay huge money near max level deals or offer up some security.. Security is always the way to go because say in 3 years the FO wants to move one of these contracts they'll be bargains

Nobody wants to sign here. We've been talking about our cap space for years, and we haven't lured one big free agent. 2017 is going to be more of the same.

We're waiting on Ingram/Russell to develop, so we're about 3 years away from landing a big free agent.

You don't even know what the contracts look like, if there is team options, as is rumored, then they can just as easily be 3 year deals. Honestly I don't know why people get mad about not having future cap space for multiple max contracts. We can't even get a meeting with 1 max contract player, you think were gonna improve so drastically that we will have multiple max players wanting to come here? 2 years from now the cap will likely go up again, whose to say we won't have room at that point?

I don't think Sam Hinkie would even take the LAL job now that you've signed Mosgov and Deng. Turrible!

The cap will rise another 20 million next summer. We will more than likely have around 30-40 million in cap space. We could have more, but we decided to give out terrible contracts with no options to old men.

How do we attract major free agents? Win. My vision and many others vision was to focus only on the kids, maybe throw in a Mahimi or Bismack, someone to help build with the core. Deng and Clown Boy would've been great 5 years ago.. but their old now. Neither of them really showed anything worthy last year. They will also play in the Western conference now, which is way tougher than the East.

Coming into this summer, all i wanted was for the Lakers to give out smart contracts that don't hurt our cap space for the future. They failed me.

Luckily, Jim and Mitch will both be gone next summer and we will have a better GM in charge.

Why are you such a negative nancy? This is a team board for Lakers fandom, not some personal blog to vent frustration.

Do you think constantly posting negativity adds anything to the board? What exactly is your motivation for posting on this board?

I swear, you're becoming the new Jetset
