Poor Showing from Laker "Fans"

There's been way too much negativity from Laker fans over the last few days. It's especially embarrassing seeing Laker "fans" on the general board ****ing on the team, and threatening to give up their fandom because we signed Mozgov. If that's how you feel, I invite you to leave and jump on the Warriors bandwagon, because a real fan wouldn't leave like that. Every team has their highs and lows, even the mighty Yankees struggle.

What makes it even worse, how are you guys going to feel when Mosgov and Deng fight hard for purple and gold every night, and you were bashing those guys and the front office? Its going to be awkward, and It's going to make every Laker fan look stupid, because so many posters are representing us on the general board and /r/lakers, constantly slamming the moves, and feeding the negativity to the circlejerk.

We didn't pass on anyone. We didn't get a meeting with anyone of note. The FO saw two tough players who could help our young guys and threw them a huge offer they couldn't resist. People keep rehashing names of players they wish we held out for, but there isn't a lot of interest coming off a 17 win season, with every other team in the league having a ton of cap space. Point being, there are little options.

Like it or not, this team is about 3 years away. If you can't handle some bumps in the road after all the success we've had, then I don't know what to tell you. Fans don't jump ship when things get tough. I remember the Kwame years, it was a dark time but I was still a die hard fan. It made those two titles even sweeter sticking with the team through everything.

We have a ton of young talent, and a great coaching staff. I wouldn't bet against us. I plead with you guys to stop with the ugly doom and gloom posts, especially on the general board, and try to be more positive about our team. Deng and Mozgov deserve our respect, and will play hard for our city, so let's make these guys feel welcome.

Ya pretty much have to agree...

People have funny ways of venting their frustration. If somebody wants to quit being a Lakers fan because we signed Mozgov they can be my guest.

I agree 100%.

I'm not a fan of the signings, but I'm not going to spend my life repeatedly posting about them and being negative. Gonna ride with the Lakers regardless like I've always done.

I havent been on the general board so I dont know whats being said there but from the criticism I am reading here, its not about Deng or Mozgov personally. I'm sure they wouldve been welcomed in teams of Lakers past. Its criticism about the front office. The Lakers are coming off a 17 win season. Off a team and a coach the front office assembled. Prior to that it was a 21 win season. 27 wins the year before that. They've been going backwards. These signings of guys in their 30s to 4 year contracts seem directionless.

The Lakers front office burned through their good will and used up the benefit of doubts. The Lakers charge a premium price for seats and television rights. They absolutely deserve criticism from their fans. 27-21-17 and directionless is not acceptable. This aint Philadephia.

the mozgov signing is particuarly garbage so why should we be happy about that. I don't agree with people threatening their fandom but we just signed him to 64 million, Biyombo went for only 8 mill more and is heaps younger and healthier also to boot. Plus fits the timeline. Why on earth should we be happy with Jimbo and Mitch being that useless in the F.A

Not only that they failed to convince Bazemore and Batum to come here, Deng was the alternative, a good atlernative but for 72 mill and 4 years, we're going to be stuck with a 35 year old on huge money by the end of his deal (and i presume he won't be good)

We've had far and away the worst offseason of any team, we would almost have been better doing nothing because at least we would have the cap to go after people next year when the f.a class is loaded

Has it ever occurred to you that Biyombo DIDNT WANT to play for the Lakers?

if we offered him enough he would. Have you seen that magic front court he'd probably start here also unlike there (Ibaka and Biyombo aren't starting)

his offense does but he's athletic and offers good defense. Mozgov gives us a pick and roll player but his health is horrid

The point I was trying to make was that you don't know what the front office offered and to whom, only what is reported in the news.

Unless you think Jim was like "Man, I need to keep my job! It's 12:01 better lock up Mozgof and Deng!"?

He looked good at times for a few games here and there in the playoffs, other times completely outmatched. He was just someone I did not want to touch for anything more than mid level backup center money before FA started, as i belive overy the couse of a year, and definitely 4, Im confident thats what hell be.

Mozgov is someone who kind of snuck up on me as an option for us so by the time I was shocked and initially disgusted with his deal, I had to accept it anyway. I just hoped biyombo got more money than him to make me feel better about it

you know this is a sad possibility, especially when JImbo is involved

And Mozgov for some reason was the first person they contacted, why wouldn't you contact Horford or Whiteside first, irrespective (even Biyombo).

I agree he did look good somewhat, i think he would have complimented Randle quiet well actually. I mean i get why you would be scared off of Biyombo but hell anything is better than the 64 mill we locked up on Mozgov.

OP is right on point. Let it go, or go away. One or the other.

You're not doing us any favors by dangling your fandom in front of people like some form of ultamtum. The Clippers are right down the street. Im sure they can use some new fans.

I have been pretty negative this week but I just made my third call back to the Lakers season ticket manager trying to get off the waiting list after 5 years. I'm not happy with the current state of things but I would happily buy 4 season tickets today if they'd let me. I might bitch about Jim Buss and bad free agent signings but I would never abandon the Lakers.

ain't nobody abandoning the lakers, but it's plain to see these contracts are going to hurt the lakers, and not by a little like lou or swaggy's contracts

This is just the first in a series of cap increases coming... In the next few years, these contracts are going to look like Lou or Swaggy's...

You make all good points.

Re: Bismack The general manager of the Raptors is pretty good at what he does and he didn't re-sign Bismack. If he didn't want him that's good enough for me.

As far as Mozgov goes if he misses most of the season rehabbing his knee and we somehow manage to keep next year's lottery pick we'll all be the biggest Mozgov fans this side of Moscow.

We ride together and we will come through and weather the storm together. Laker fan for life.

Seriously the past year or so it seems everyone on the GB has been crapping on everything Lakers. From our FO to our players.

I refuse to believe our front office is incompetent and not doing their level best to acquire the best players w/o jeopardizing the future.
